Another question about the platinum plan

When I asked CRO what "snacks and refreshments" meant she said that we would have access to a lounge at AKL and I said the concierge lounge? She said "No it is a seperate lounge".

Does anyone know what this means? Is there actually a seperate area where people on the platinum plan go for snacks and refreshments? It doesn't seem possible.

Any info is appreciated.

Hi,
I'm not sure if this helps, but last year we did the Grand Plan at the Grand Floridian. We had access to both concierge lounges. I don't think that's what they are referring to with snack. At least with the grand plan (fairly equal to platinum I think) a snack meant: 1 Drink and 1 Appitizer or 1 Entree or 1 Desert.

I agree with Mike, while I have not done the platinum plan or grand plan only the gold/deluxe plan. I understood that snack to mean you could go to a counter service or food stand and get your "snack" defined as Mike did. That is one feature that makes it a step above the 3 meals a day you get on gold.

Vbfamily, when we did the Grand Plan, snacks were anything that we could get from Room Service or a sit-down restaurant or even some of the counter-service restaurants (not all counter-service restaurants were accessible to the plan). I expect the Platinum Plan to work the same way as the Grand Plan did (since it replaces it). Don't worry too much about it, though. When you check-in, you will be told all about how the Platinum Plan works and doesn't work. Disney is very good at explaining all the in's & out's of each of the plans.

My son's favorite snack was ordering a bowl of popcorn and some pop from Room Service at the Grand Floridian (where we were staying). The bowl of popcorn arrived in a huge crystal bowl, along with a six-pack of Coke (plus appropriate glassware). It was funny watching the Room Service CM "set up" my son's snack in our suite. That was the fanciest bowl of popcorn my son has ever had (and will ever have). ;)

By the way, stay away from the minibar (if your resort room has one). Both times we did the Grand Plan, Disney was very stern with their warning to stay away from the minibar unless we wanted to see additional costs on our room bill. They told us that if we wanted a snack, to pick up the phone and call Room Service. They also told us that if we wanted a can of pop, to not touch the minibar and to call Room Service instead. It would be covered under the Grand Plan if we ordered our pop from Room Service, however, if we grabbed a can of pop from the minibar, we better be prepared to pay. I thought that was crazy but when we checked out, we had some minibar costs on our room bill (my son had grabbed some snacks from the minibar that I didn't know about until check out).

Please verify with Disney when you check-in whether or not the "Don't Touch The Minibar" rule still applies to the Platinum Plan.

Janet2K,

Do you have any regrets about doing the Grand Plan. Was it all you hoped it would be?

Is there anything about it that you didn't like?

Here's my $.02.
I loved the challenge of eating all my meals. It's also nice to be able to say: "I think I'll have the steak, I've just had too much lobster this week" :D . I didn't enjoy the 10 pounds I gained (and I really did). Make sure you A) Eat at Victoria and Alberts (covered under the plan) B) Order room service at midnight C) Have afternoon tea at the grand floridian D) Do Hoop De Doo E) Cirque F) Fishing excusion.

Althought I think it can cost considerably more than getting everything seperately, it was really nice not worring and being able to do pretty much anything we wanted.

Vbfamily, my husband is sitting right here next to me. I just asked him if he had any regrets regarding the Grand Plans that we have done. You wanna know his response? Are you sure? "No regrets. Except for the bill." Oh, he's a funny man, I tell ya. ;)

I, on the other hand, have no regrets. None. We had a ball on those plans and I have the most amazing memories. One of my favorite ones is of my husband and brother-in-law *tinkling* on the lightening shelter while we were golfing late one day. You see, we couldn't find the restroom on the golf course and the boys had too much beer to drink that afternoon. Nature's call was too strong and thus they had to answer it. We found a lightening shelter and so they, well, I'll leave the rest to your imagination. Needless to say, as soon as we got back in our golf carts and rounded the next bend, we found the restroom. My sister and I about pee'd our pants laughing so hard over the fact that there we were, on the wonderful Grand Plan, and our husbands were acting like a couple of good 'ol boys from the backwoods. As the old saying goes, you can dress 'em up but you just can't take 'em anywhere. A year or so ago I was actually reviewing video footage of that particular vacation. Believe it or not, I pretty much filmed the entire golf episode. One of these days I'm going to turn that video tape into a blackmail tape. I will retire a rich woman. I bet my brother-in-law and husband will pay a pretty penny to have me destory that tape.

I have no regrets regarding my Grand Plans. I am in the process of trying to determine if we will do a Platinum Plan this Fall. Right now I'm about 60% certain that we will (it all depends upon who will be vacationing with my family this Fall).

You asked if it was all that I had hoped it would be? The answer is "yes." And then some. My very first WDW vacation was spent in the main building of the GF. We were traveling with friends. We had MK view rooms in the main building, and we all booked the Grand Plan. That vacation was beyond magical. Because of that vacation, we got hooked on Walt Disney World. And we've been going back ever since. I curse my friends every time I see them. I blame them for being my "pushers" (as they are the ones who helped me get addicted to WDW). ;)
