Another question about split stays

I would like to do a split stay when we go to the WDW next May. I was thinking an All Star Resort and a DLX resort for a total of 6nights. I think I read that you have to make 2 different reservations. Is that correct? So is that 2 different deposits as well?

If you are on the dining plan, does having a split res affect your dining plan? Or do I have to purchase 2 different plans? One for 2 days and another for 4 days?

Does the split stay affect your theme park tickets in anyway? Do you have to purchase seperate tickets?

How do I book a split stay? Can my agent do it or does it have to be done though CRO?

Help! I am confused!:worried:

you agency can do it - but I think I would preferred CRO.

the tickets must be purchase with the dinning - if that is still right - then your plan can get very expensive.

either forget the dinning - or just stay at one resort.

remember it is the first day ticket that is so expensive. You would be required to purchase two first day tickets if you have the dinning.

Thanks for the info. I think I will just stay at one resort. I really wanted to do a dlx resort but really can't justify the expense for 6 days. Maybe a good code will come out by then. I did not realize you had to buy 2 first day tickets. That would get very expensive.

Thanks for the info.

You could always try renting points from a DVC member to stay in a Deluxe - but be warned - once you stay in one - you might get hooked and then the standard is set for all future trips!!!

It should be easy to set up....we actually did a split stay but we didn't book it that way..we didn't like POR so we switched to the POLY and it was easy..it didn't mess with our DP at all.

You only need another 1 day ticket to continue the dining plan at the second resort. For example, we have 5 nights at the BC booked with dining and 10 day hopper passes. The passes are good for the following 5 nights at the GF but the dining is not. Not a big deal to us, we'll just pay out of pocket the last 5 days for restaurants.

Ok, so if I buy a 7 day ticket instead of the 6 day ticket, does that count? I still confused.:headache: We are planning on going for my son's 3rd bday. He will still be 2 when we check in but will turn 3 on the 3rd day we are there. Will I have to buy him a ticket?

For instance, if you are staying at a value for 3 nights and a deluxe for 2 nights, you would purchase a 5 day park hopper ticket plus dining for your first resort package stay, then you would have to buy at least a 1 day base ticket to be able to get the dining plan on your second resort stay. Yes it will be more expensive.

But if you can stay at your second resort stay without using the dining plan (it would be cheaper since you don't have to buy the 1 day base ticket) you can just go ahead and purchase a 6 day ticket for your first resort package, which would carry over to use during your second resort stay. Your dining plan would expire midnight of the night you checked out of your first resort.

We did a split stay last year and will be doing it this year, that is how I afford to stay at the deluxe resorts. As other said purchase your tickets for the lnegth of your stay and just a one day base ticket for your 2nd package if you want to get the dining plan. It is cheaper for us to do this and enjoy the deluxe resorts, rather then staying the entire length there. However when we booked it last year and for this year it was during free dining, so that helped too. Good luck in your decision.

 Ok, I think I got it now. My sleep deprived brain just wasn't comprehending....my son has been sick with a really nasty stomach bug and I havn't been gettin much sleep this wk.:faint:

I am still thinking about the split stay. I REALLY want to stay at AKL but is is soooo expensive in regular season. Just my luck that he was born during the regular season.:rotfl:

Here's hoping a great rate code comes out between now and then.

Thanks again!
