Another Question About Spirit Airlines

We are flying Spirit out of Detroit next Thursday, to Orlando. I booked on-line and got confirmation and they charged our credit card. But I have not been able to choose seats or print our boarding passes on their web site. It just keeps saying "unable to process...blah blah blah....please try again in a day or two."

My question is, for those of you who have flown on Spirit and booked on-line, were you able to print your boarding passes?

It says on their web site that you can get your boarding passes when you check in, so should we just not worry about it now?
I just feel like I need our boarding passes when we check in, but maybe it's not really all that important?

We flew Spirit from Detroit to Orlando in October and were able to book our seats on line. At the time I booked our seats I did not print the boarding passes. When I went to do that (about 1 week before our trip) I wasn't able to. I called Spirit and they told me that the system isn't functional yet and that I would have to check in and get my boarding passes and (new) seat assignments there. When we check in all we have ever needed was our driver's license. I do bring along the confirmation page that I print off the computer, but I have never needed it. Check in is usually very quick even though the lines are really long.

I have flown Spirit several times and have never printed up boarding passes online. I tried once, but it wouldn't work.

No matter what time I get to the airport before our flight, there is always a long check in line. But it really doesn't bother me, I love the great rates we get with Spirit!

Have a wonderful vacation Chattyaholic!!

We are flying Spirit on Jan 22 from Detroit. I picked our seats and printed our boarding passes on line. I have heard that many others were not able to do this. I guess I just got lucky. I would not worry about not having your boarding pass.

The only good thing about picking our seats was that we are finally sitting in the front of the plane. We are always stuck at the back and it seem like it takes forever for the people at the front to get all their stuff and get off the plane.

bcvprincess - since you have your boarding passes will you just by pass the check in counter and go directly to the gate? Where/when would you check your bags - at curb side?
I hear you about the back of the plane - ugggh! We always try for an emergency exit row.

Nope, don't worry, you'll get them at check in. ::yes:: Have fun!

I'm not sure if they are doing curb side check in. If they are we could just go right to the gate. We used to travel with just carry ons but with 2 dd's we now have to check luggage. I really don't think that printing our boarding passes will help us in any way but I had to try it out.

In October they were doing curbside check in at Detroit Metro, but I guess that could change at any time.

Chattyaholic & bcvprincess why exactly would you want to leave Michigan this month - aren't you enjoying the weather here:rolleyes:

Have fun on your trips.

We also flew Spirit out of Metro and we couldn't choose seats or print boarding passes ahead of time, either. When we flew, there was no curbside check-in that day (it was this past Nov.). I had just assumed the airport wasn't doing that, but I saw someone above mention that it was being done in Oct. In any case, checking in and checking the luggage went really quickly even though the lines were enormous. In Orlando, they had the curbside check-in for Spirit so it was even faster on the way home.

Glad to see the good reviews. We are going on spirit from Chicago. We could not pick our seats because we have a lap child and they don't allow it. I am taking my print out for proof of payment, etc. I am sure it will be fine, from what everyone has said.

Thanks, everyone, for your responses.
I think I can now stop worrying about seat assignments and boarding passes. :teeth:
