Someone said not to forget duct tape. I'm embarrassed to ask but why would one need duct tape? Is this a joke or is there really a need for duct tape?

Thanks again,
Sue

I've survived many cruises without it, but I believe people pack it to keep the closet door from sliding at night due to the motion of the ship. I've never encountered this problem, but that may be due to how late we stay at the bars....

The closet doors have rather stick velcro on them since at least March of last year. Even in 15 ft waves, they weren't close to budging, so I suspect the notion of using duct tape on the doors is probably outdated.

Sue, Duct Tape is not a joke. I never travel without at least a partial roll. Many a fix has been made in many out of the way corners of the world with duct tape. I have fixed binoculars on the Serengeti, patched dive gear on the out islands of the Caribbean, repaired a tent on Mt Mckinley and used it to fix a hem on my tux.

I've used duct tape to "resole" to bottoms of my slippers countless times. I love the slippers and can't find them made the way I like them any more. When it wears through, I just remove and redo. So as not to embarrass anyone, I leave those slippers at home when I cruise.

One practical Cruise Related use is to wrap around luggage if the lock breaks. I've used it as emergency hem tape also. Can also be used as a lint remover for dark clothing.
