Since that other poster did such a great job posting her "pre-trip planning saga", I'll being with mine!
The cast of characters?
Jay - Me! 25 yr old wife to Don
Don - World's best hubby, 29 yrs old.
Cam - One of the World's best friends, engaged to Nell, 21 yrs old
Babygirl - Engaged to Cam, another one of the world's best friends, 23 yrs old.
All of this planning started out in the begining of 2005. DH and I realized in 2004 that we just couldn't afford to buy a condo and go to Disneyworld in the same year. Out here in CA, only 8% of the population can afford to own property and we are barely squeaking by! But we learned from not vacationing in 2004 that we just CAN'T do it again! We're dying for a break. So we decide on another Disneyworld Vacation for our anniversary (#4, 12/1). We love going during this time of year and wouldn't go any other time!
So one day in June, I'm taking Nell to Disneyland (we're annual passholders and it's only an hours drive away), and we're talking and I'm thinking "Ya know, I'd love to have you along on our Disneyworld trip. What do you think?" At that time, she was broken up with Cam. She says sure! She's never been cross country traveling before and what better reason to go! So I have one more person to plan for.
Then, a few weeks later, we're hanging out with Cam and invite him to come along. He says yes. Yeah!
We buy Cam's airfare and book our frequent flier miles. Nell hears Cam's going and isn't sure if she should go on, so... she tells me "yes! Book my flight" then... "ya know.. I don't know..." Then "yes!" Then "no..." You get the picture. Finally they start dating again and we book her flight... then they break up.... GAH!
To make months worth of story very short, they are very happily engaged now and planning a wedding next year, where DH is the best man and I'm the maid of honor. Ha! Go figure!
The 4 of us hang out just about weekly, talking about the wedding and the trip. We can't wait to go!
But DH and I get to thinking... the last vacation we took (WDW in 2003) we took friends on too. Though we had a great time, we didn't have any "alone time", ya know? So we decide to extend our time in WDW and not invite the love birds along for that. So we have them booked for 11/27-12/2, and we're booked for 11/25- 12/4. Yeah! Now we get some "alone time" too!
Now Cam and Janelle are having money troubles and are having trouble paying us back for the plane tickets we booked on our credit card. Uh oh! That's okay. Cam offers to come over and daily look after our puppy (Clydas, the 14 month old boxer boy) while we're at work since he works the night shift. Awesome! He's done us so many favors, we just consider it all even.
Now, this is a very special trip. Not only is the first time we've gone on vacation with another couple...
, but it's the first time Cam has been back to Disneyworld since the untimely death of his mother (5 years ago). It's the first time Nell has been cross country flying, and a LANDMARK anniversary for DH and I after a very ROUGH year last year.
So, we're 25 days away now (ignore the signature count, it's wrong) and can't wait! I'm the planner/organizer/resident Disney Freak and I'm having Disney Dreams!
