The cast:

Me: 48 yr kid who likes Christmas, Disney, toys and refuses to grow up
DW: 4(mumbles) yr old who hates to fly but loves the Disney experience and will get on "that thing" to get there.
DD: 15 now, 16 when we get there (pray for me). Rockin' Roller Coaster is her favorite ride and there had better not be people in the way when she gets there

The extended cast:

Dad: HATES Flying and will only go kicking and screaming (but used the "f" word, fun, when he went to Disneyland)
Mom: Somebody say travel? LET'S GO!

Brother: Works at the famous evil empire and is ready to go
Sisterinlaw: Sounds fun, let's do it
DN: Is Uncle Mike being silly again?
DN2: doesn't say much, she's just a few months old but smiles for Uncle Mike (no, its not gas)

The trip is in July and the plane tickets are purchased, the reservations are made at the CBR (best resort bar none) and now its time for the nitty gritty.

DW, DD and I went in 2003 and had a great time, even with the 95 hours in the air from Seattle to Dallas and the 30 hours in the air from Dallas to Orlando. We stayed at the CBR, did the commando tour of the world and made it a point to come back. The downsides other than the 2000 hours in the air were the rain storms (and I thought Washington had rain), the heat and humidity, the rain and then the heat. The Disney experience was great and now we're ready.

In all of our travels last time we didn't find a boat trip that I've heard about. Is there one from Epcot to MGM? I've heard about it but can't find anything on a map. That's question one. Question two is what other water routes are there? I know of the one from the MK to FT Wilderness but this time some of us would like to see some of the other resorts and it seems to me that a water trip would be a good way to go.

Any help would be appreciated and there will be more pre-pre-pre trip reports coming.

The only way to get from Epcot/MGM via boat is to take the boat that goes to Boardwalk and Yacht/Beach Club resorts and switch off the boat at one of the resorts to get on the other boat going to the opposite resort. Whoa...that sounded confusing. Basically, there are boats running to both MGM and Epcot from these resorts but they are different boats so you'd have to make a switch.

There is also a nice boat ride from Downtown Disney areas to Port Orleans French Quarters and Riverside. There is a good restaurant for dinner at Riverside and a good foodcourt for lunch there as well. This resort is worth checking out. The grounds are very pretty and the boat ride offers some pretty scenery as well.

There are also boats (in addition to the monorail) that connect MK to Polynesian and Grand Floridian but they're kind of short and don't offer any views you can't get on the monorail.

No...the MGM/Epcot boats make the full circuit. stops at MGM, then the 3 resorts (yc, bc, bw--not sure what order), then Epcot at the international gateway. Then the same trip in reverse (well, the stops are reversed...the boat goes forwards ;) )

Tyler or someone, please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

And I agree, the boat from POR/POFQ to DTD is a nice ride.

Yes, the boat makes the entire circuit. You can get on at MGM and stay on all the way to Epcot. It makes three stops Swan/Dolphin, Yacht and Beach Club and Boardwalk, but you do not have to get off until Epcot. It also goes the opposite direction from Epcot to MGM. It's a nice ride and takes about 30 minutes. It's faster to walk, but as relaxing.

Sounds like you'll have a wonderful trip. I'm looking forward to your reports.

Your trip sounds like fun! I can't wait to read the trip report. I wish there were more to read... :goodvibes

we did that on one of our trips to take a look at the resort and it was a nice ride.

Also, when you come to MK via the TTC, you can either take the monorail or the boat. We did the boat the last time and it was very nice. You get a different view of the park coming in.
