If I rent a car from Port Canaveral to WDW, should I expect long lines at rental car agency?

Goal is to be at WDW (The Contemporary) by 9:45am, is this possible?


OPTION 2- Rent a car at MCO, park at port. This seems like a bit of a waste since we won't really need a car while at WDW, but maybe could use on HS/Disney Springs day.

Yes. It can be done. We have done it many times. What I do is that I am doing express walk off myself while the rest of the family is eating breakfast. I then take a cab or an uber to the car rental place. It is usually a $10 fare. I then pick up the car and pick up my family back at the port. They would get porters to help with luggage and bring it to the curb. I have been to downtown Disney as early as 9:15am one time and always there before 10

Express walk off isn't an option. Using Uber is though.. Still think I can make it by 10?

- The time you leave the ship and how long it takes to swipe your KTTW one last time.
- The Customs line to check your passports/identification
- The time it takes to look for your luggage
- The time it takes to wait in line for a cab/rental car shuttle or uber.
- The line at the rental car agency. The later you go, the less of a chance they will have the car you want. I have seen people wait for hours because they are waiting for minivans to come back from WDW.

If everything is aligned in your favor, there is a chance you can make it by 10AM.

To guarantee to get to WDW by 10AM, I think that one person in your party does express walk off to pick up the rental is the best way.

It's myself and a child. Can't do that.
Having the rental already there may be our only option I guess.

Ohana breakfast is a must do, and that's the only day that we have time to fit it in. Planning on an 11am ADR.

Rental car would be the best option to ensure you are as close to that 9:45 time as possible.

Best case scenario if you got off the ship no later than 8:15 AM, then got your luggage, made it thru customs and on the road by 8:30 AM with an hour drive to WDW and accounting for traffic and toll stops along the way you would probably arrive by 9:30 AM but closer to 9:45.
Depending on day of the week it might take a little longer due to commuters and heavier traffic.
I would really shoot for getting off the ship by 8:00 to give yourself lots of breathing room and getting the rental car.

Ohana breakfast is a must do, and that's the only day that we have time to fit it in. Planning on an 11am ADR.

If you have an ADR at Ohana, they will let you park at the Poly. So, you could just head there directly instead of going to the Contemporary first.

For us time is money. I have done the waiting for the shuttle, waiting for the car rental and it was just way too painful. Now we do option 2, rent a car at MCO and keep it parked. We do not do express walk off (I cannot pack lightly) but we do not go to breakfast and can be just about anywhere by 9-9:30.
