Also realize that your "assigned" parking lot might not be the closest one to you. We were in the 80s section during Hurricane Francis and parked in that "assigned" lot. Once we got to our room, we realized the 90s lot was right outside our window and off to the right. We were able to park there and watch our car during the storm (we had a convertible and were a bit concerned).

That's seems to happen to us everytime, I suggest parking close, find your room then move your car closer, I also find I can get a closer spot during the day, before everyone gets back from the parks. We take the bus most of the time, If I drive it's usually to Epcot or MGM.
