Another Point reallocation question

We booked VGC at 7 months using our BLT points and borrowed AKV points. When we changed the dates 28 BLT points were returned to us. We now need to make an AKV reservation in which we will borrow our remaining AKV points but will still need 20 additional points. Are we able to have MS swap 20 BLT points that were returned to us for 20 of the borrowed AKV points, without running the risk of losing a day from that reservation? Both trips are in the same use year.

Yes, MS should be able to do that switch. I have done a similar one before.

You can only reallocate if there is current availability at the resort where you originally used the points. At least that is what we have been told on several occasions.

^That was not a condition placed on me when I did a switch of some AKV points for BWV points in an AKV reservation that I had.

I think the "new inventory" rule is only for switching a Home Resort preference period (>7mos) reservation onto non-Home points. In this case, the reservation was made at the 7 month mark, so either the AKV or the BLT points could have been used. In that case, the switch should be possible. YMMV of course.

That is how I have seen it work as well. If it was booked more then 7 months in advance, the won't swap the points, but if it was less then, they will. If the AKV points are borrowed, they won't be returned to their original UY though....

I know they won't go back to the original UY but thanks for adding that for others who may read this. We actually need them for the year they were already borrowed into, as well as the rest of the AKV points that haven't yet been borrowed. We are giving DH's parents a trip that we hadn't originally planned on, otherwise I would have been sure to pull those borrowed points from a different contract.
