Another plane (seat) ??

Thanks again!!! mcnuss-CO does offer online check in but I have heard others say that they used this and when they got to the airport that their seats were assigned to someone else. Would I have better luck maintaining our seats by getting to the airport early or doing the online check in?

Mcnuss is the US Airways guru. I fly CO every week, already at 60,000 miles year to date flown so I know what I am talking about. View your ressie online the night before or as often as you wish. There is no need to do online check in because you will still need to go to the agent or skycap to check luggage. CO is not as bad as many other airlines for changing seats. Seat changes usually only occur when there is a change in aircraft so even if you check in online if there is a change in aircraft after you check in online your seat assignments could still be changed. Please don't fret about this, plan some other part of your trip.

I am assuming you are flying out of Cleveland. CLE is not that big of an airport. There is no need to get there extra early just to check in.

prncess674-Thank you very much for your helpful info. Yes, we are flying out of CLE and will be there about 2 hrs early. I'm glad to hear CO doesn't change seats that often. If I check on the website under my conf #, it is still showing our correct seats. Are you an "elite"? Would you be mad if you found out that a family of 5 was in the "elite" seats"?

ls1222, you need to relax about the seats. There is no way unless you are wearing signs or advertising the fact that you aren't elite that anyone would know that you aren't elite.

I am preferred on USAirways and I never stop to think if the person sitting in the preferred rows is actually preferred.

Relax and enjoy the ride and have a great vacation. :)

No i would not be mad. I would be mad if they gave the family of 5 a comp upgrade to First Class before me :). I would also be mad if your child misbehaves and spills on my laptop but I would be mad at anyone who does this. Whether you sit in the back or the front of the plane be courteous to those around you. I don't mind sitting next to kids if they are well behaved. Many times I let them play games on my laptop if they are polite. Elites don't look any certain way. Just sit and act like you know what you are doing. MCO is a vacation destination. Most people will be in shorts and tees, including elites.

Also as a side note. CO has implemented this stupid "Elite Access" signage all over the airport. It's a big fluff marketing campaign. You are not entitled to use these lanes for boarding or checking luggage just because of your seat assignment. Board when your row is called through the general boarding door if you are not entitled to preboard because of a small child (under 4) or handicapped.

I just noticed that most of my earlier post got chopped off!

ls1222, I agree with safetymom, you are fretting over nothing. Please, please relax. I fly weekly and I've never had my seats changed on me. You hear about it on these boards bc of 2 reasons: 1) people here tend to be a little, um, how do I say this nicely, obsessive maybe (?) about their plans and 2) people here tend to make their plans very far in advance. When you do that, you are likely to experience the airline changing your aircraft which will change your seats. Since you are now within days of your flight, this is very, very unlikely to happen now. As for the elite seats, please remember that loads of "non-elites" get elite seats. Many times there are not enough elite flyers on a particular flt. to fill those seats, but of course they don't go empty! There is no particular way that elite flyers look or act. If you saw me traveling with my DD9 & DH and we're all in our shorts and DD has her nose in her GameBoy and I'm reading my book, and DH is snoozing, would you know? Nope!

A very wise woman on the cruise board once said "none of things I worried about occurred, and all of things I never thought of did." Moral of the story: focus on having fun, and controlling the aspects of your trip which are actually within your control. You are going to have a great time!!
