Another Peri-menopause Thread

I've taken Provera when I went too long without a period. Pretty uneventful in my experience.

Hi there! I took Provera this winter for a few months to get my cycles back on a track since they were out of whack due to cysts, I'm 35 and had 1 ovary removed due to a large dermoid cyst and now have a small one started on the remaining ovary. So my hormones have been out of sync for a while now, my cycles were very short and almost contstant.

I have to say I had a really hard time the 2 months I was on the provera. The headaches were horrible - they'd start the second day or so I was on the hormones and last the whole 2 weeks, then slowly taper off the 2 weeks I was off the pills. Then start right back up again when the next round of pills started. I was also extremely tired all of the time I was on the pills - just didn't feel like myself, felt like I was walking around in a cloud. The first month on the Provera my cycle was still really short, I stopped taking them since it had started anyway. Second month was better - period still started when I had a day or 2 of Provera left but it was longer than it had been.

Since I've been off I have to admit that the cycles have been better. Took about 3 weeks for me to get rid of the headaches and start feeling like myself again, having more energy and actually wanting to do stuff. The last 2-3 months have been pretty good - and right now I'm just tracking everything and monitoring the length of the cycles. So, the Provera did work pretty well for me but it was really rought being on it. I was quite cranky...to say the least!

Good luck and I hope it works for you!
