Hi -
I always send "packages of fun" to WDW when I visit. Early December trip is the worst because I have to send Christmas Decorations (last year lights, Santa windsock, Snowman flag and a little Christmas tree for the room.
Ok, ok......focus....back to the answer......
Two or three years ago the resorts with attached convention facilities (Beach Club in my case) began to CHARGE to receive these packages based on weight. The Manager at the BC waived the charge the first year because I was unaware of it and was not charged at WL earlier in the fall.
The reason given was because of all the Convention Materials that arrive and must be stored.
Last year we added a night at the last minute and stayed at Riverside before moving to the Beach Club - no charge.
You may want to call the individual resort and confirm there is no additional charge to receive and store the package.
Otherwise - go ahead and use UPS or FedEx. They will deliver to the resort and someone in receiving will sign for it.
When you ship your package you will be given a tracking number. You can follow your package's progress and actually printout the receiving information with date, time received and the person who signed for it.
Personal note: UPS has a fabulous service for $10. If for some crazy reason the address is not correct (this happened to me in June when I sent my pre-wedding package to Alaska and used the WRONG zip code). As long as the package has not arrived at the last hub before delivery, they can re-route the package to the correct address. It was a life-saver for us in Alaska!
Ok, now.....on the box print your name, resort name and address. I also put a note on the box (well below your address near the edge) with the arrival date and resort confirmation. They will enter the information into the reservation computer. It will pop-up when you checkin.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
