We have recently booked a Studio room at Old Key West Resort through renting points and I am ready to put in rooms requests with the owner.

I have read through several room request questions here before but I really want your input about what to request. The family includes my wife, myself and our 2 children (13 & 7.) We will be driving and bringing our own food so the lack of good quick service is not a big issue. We will spend probably spend one afternoon by the Sandcastle pool but might go back if time allows.

I'm really torn between asking for a room near the Hospitality House or the Turtle Pond section, which I've ready some good things about. We would also like a good water view if possible. My son and I might take advantage of the ping pong table and shuffleboard too.

Thanks for your help!

Near Hospitality House is a booking category, so if it's not on your reservation you will not be able to get the closest buildings (11 to 14 or 23 to 26).

Since you have a car, I would request Turtle Pond Road, water view. I had great water views in buildings 31, 37 & 43.

As it was said, if HH is not on your reservation then you cannot request it, so...with that in mind, I would probably go for the Turtle Pond area as TP has the snack shack which some people prefer. Even though you cannot request HH area you can request bldgs 16-18 which are on Millers Road but the rooms look out over the pond and golf course and over to Hospitality. These bldgs are also fairly close to Hospitality as I stayed in 18 and it was a quick walk over to Hospitality with bldgs 16 and 17 being even closer. Also if you plan on using the busses, it's a short walk back from Peninsula Rd(first bus stop) and as I said, a short walk to the Hospitality bldg and the last bus stop.

Bldg 27, 28 and 29 are right next to the Peninsular Road bus stop. And just across the bridge from the Hospitality House.

We have stayed on Turtle Pond and on Millers Road. Both have their perks. Turtle pond we had to drive to HH :drive: but loved the view over the course and we were close to the pool there. The turtle pool has shuffleboard so that's a plus per your post and the snack shack was cool.

Millers was nice because we could walk to HH (bldg. 18) and could easily use the amenities there. We overlooked the pond as well.

I would stay at either location again :cloud9:

Those 3 are our favorite buildings. The views and convenience to the main building are terrific.

So to piggy back my first questions, which buildings have the best studio views?

Studios are usually at the ends of the buildings except for a few that are in the corners of the larger U shaped buildings. So don't expect much of a few from any studio. You'll likely see bushes, trees, AC units, cars in the parking lot, etc.

I've been prowling around the touringplans.com page looking at the room finder and it appears that buildings 18 & 35 would provide the best opportunity for a good water view. Does anyone have personal experiences in these buildings in a studio room?

If you get one of the studios on the end. But there are also studios in the bends of the buildings. These are larger U shaped buildings and there are studios with only a patio door, no other window to the villa. We had one on the third floor of 18 that had a great view of foliage and that was all.
