So in the last 5 trips we have never tried Ohana.

My concern is that we won't like enough of the food options. Husband doesn't eat pork I don't eat shrimp or chicken wings.
We will have our 3 year old too so the entertainment part of the meal really appeals to us.

What is your thought on Ohana? Food? entertainment?
It seems like a must do but i have been so worried to waste of Dining credit on food we might not even like

Well, there are chicken breasts and also beef. There's bread, salad and noodles. So, there is plenty beyond shrimp and chicken wings.

I mean, if you don't think you'll like it, don't waste the credit. We love 'Ohana but we eat everything offered.

IMO, the "entertainment" isn't really worth the credits, but the food is. :)

My sister and her family really like it and go every year. My camp is more of an it's okay, but nothing special kind of place. We've been for dinner once about 4/5 years ago, but haven't gone back. We are going back this year though because we have a couple new ppl. in our party that would like to try it. They will give your 3 year old a kids meal type thing (think chicken nuggets/fries, although I know they have other options) if you don't think the 3 year old will like the food. The foods not bad, it's just nothing special for us. You'll have salad, some type of bread, noodles, broccoli, chicken, shrimp, pork, and I believe steak and then a bread pudding type thing for dessert. The entertainment is fun, but again nothing special in our opinion, and I'm not sure if the average 3 year old will be comfortable going by themselves (they do a little parade things, where the kids walk around with musical instruments), but parents can always join in as well.

You could try breakfast instead. The breakfast items are pretty standard; eggs, bacon, sausage, Mickey waffles, potatoes. Plus characters! Mickey, Pluto, Lilo and Stitch.

There's a variety of meats and chicken offered. The salad is delicious. We love the pot stickers and the noodles, which if you're not careful can be a meal on their own. My picky 10 year old orders a grilled cheese and fries, which they have no problem providing.

If you can score an ADR I think you'd be surprised how much you enjoy it.

The skewers these days are chicken, beef, shrimp. Not sure what's in the pot stickers, TBH.

The bread pudding with ice cream and sauce is worth the one TS credit.
Seriously, I never even liked bread pudding until I ate it there. And, now, nothing compares to it!
The salad is really fresh, and actually "green" not a bunch of iceberg white scraps like Olive Garden.
So bread, salad, steak and dessert alone you will be full!

I don't consider there to be any entertainment at Ohana. Kids pushing a coconut with a broom - not entertainment. Seems more like Sunday afternoon in the produce section at WalMart. A guy strolling around with a ukulele - not really entertainment. My grandma would think it was awesome - it doesn't register with me.

I also think liking the food has to do more with liking that sweet/sour flavor that everything there has. If you like that - you should be fine. If not - skip it. I like the restaurant - but it is extremely limited in terms of flavor variety.

I went to Ohana's for the first time on my last trip and was a bit worried to as DH is allergic to shell fish and nuts and I hate coconut :crazy2:.

Also had my 3 year old with us, we ordered his food separately, they did a kids meal for him if I remember rightly chicken Nuggets and Chips (sorry Fries)

But DH and I by the end of the meal were stuffed, so I wouldn't worry about not having enough to eat and Disney is very good with Allergies and making substitutes for things you don't like.

Have to agree with @HeidiGW the pudding is so, so, so, so, so Yummy although now I know
You can get the dessert only at Tambu far cheaper
I might just spend my next trip there just eating pudding.

Also I got a cocktail served in a Pineapple, I know right a real pineapple, I loved that :cloud9: total kitsch, truly Amazing

We've done breakfast but never dinner. Planning on doing dinner in December, I don't eat meat so I hope those noodles are good.

I agree with this. Sure you'll get more variety at a buffet, but the breakfast food at ohana is quite delish. Plus the characters come to your table, no need to rush to the buffet and back, you'll never miss the characters. The interaction is awesome. Your 3 year old will love it. Personally the ohana entertainment at dinner is NOT worth it at all. The food quality at dinner is pretty poor too. Not at all worth going IMO. Noodles were ok, potstickers were dry, wings were slimy, beef was dried out (and we dined at 530pm!). We had the pork, not good. Just not a very good meal considering what they charge. DP or OOP, just not worth it.

There is a vegetarian option. Usually wonton chips with humus and a tofu/vegetable bowl. Just ask your server when you sit down.

The menu is very limited and it sounds like it doesn't appeal to you already.

The "entertainment" is minimal and not worth a stop for anyone so I would not factor that in.

Personally, not one visit (3) to Ohana have I felt my meal was worth the price, my service was at a level that I expected, the atmosphere was anything to embrace ...... and I don't see myself giving them another chance. They have consistently disappointed me.

If you are not excited about going, then don't go. Just because some folks love a place doesn't mean you will and don't feel like you have to go. There are so many options at WDW to use your DDP - find the ones that the atmosphere and food sound like your thing.

We were completely unimpressed with the food at O'Hana.

The salad was fine but the appetizers are all dumped in one bowl on the table. The presentation is awful it looked like table scraps.

For the money this place charges i want seperate bowls each containing one type of appetizer.

The potstickers were hard on the edges, the wings were very sweet and fatty, the lo mein was ok as were the veggies so I dug them out of the bowl.

The entrees were not much better dried skewered chicken, the shrimp was ok but its true everything is covered in what tasted like the same sweet sauce.

I dont remember them coming around with any type of pork or beef.

The highlight was the bread pudding. My kids dont like bread pudding so they ate the chocolate cupcakes

Yes its all you can eat but how much mediocre food do you want to eat?

And the only entertainment for the hour and half we were there was the man with the ukeke but its so loud you really cant hear him

I just dont understand why this place is so popular.

I can find someplace alot better to spend $230.00 for the four if us to eat- even at Disney!

I will not eat here again and would never recommend.

OP, this is the minority view of the restaurant, not the majority. Most love it. Try getting an adr and you will see.
