Hi!

I've been lurking on these boards for awhile, gathering information for a trip to the World. We're debating whether it would be better to go in late September/early October (at the end of value season), or to wait until November/early December (avoiding Thanksgiving, which I've learned from all of you can be verrry crowded!). My vote would be go to sooner, but my DH thinks that it might be too hot and/or rainy during the Sept/Oct time. Can anyone shed some light on this for us? THanks in advance!

We went the last week of September '03, and it was great. We were there 7 days, and only had rain one day, probably only about half that day. We did EPCOT that day, and it's a great park to go to in the rain, since you're really only outdoors to go from one attraction to the next. We got cheap ponchos for about $3 each, and carried those in our backpack to the parks every day.

Weather was still pretty warm (mid-80's) and of course humid, but better than when we had gone the previous year in May. Crowds were very small, though, and we didn't have to wait in long lines anywhere except the Lion King show and Fantasmic. Back to the Ponchos for a sec - the heat wasn't a problem wearing them, because the one rainy day was in the 70's and stayed overcast.

In my opinion, it's a great time to go, although a hurricane could probably change things a lot.

Thanks for the welcome and the replies! I'm excited that I found such a great resource.

WELCOME!!!! I vote for december, in the beginning of december during the first week, it is not that crowded and you get to see it decorated for christmas and can also go to Mickey's very merry christmas party (for an extra fee) September/ is not very crowded, but keep in mind it is the end of hurricane season. You will have a great time whatever decision you make! From another NJ'er!!

I've been down there at both times - both very nice, not very crowded, but my vote would be for the week after Thanksgiving. All the Holiday decorations are up and it really gets you into the spirit of the season! Temperatures were in the 70's - I don't think we had any rain. Make sure you go to the very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom! It's held on certain weekends in December. MK closes early & then reopens for the VMCParty - you need to get special tickets for this ahead of time. (They mailed them to me. ) There's snow on Main Street - all the rides are open and there's cocoa & cookie stations. And then the Christmas Parade that you see on TV. ( I love those Wooden Soldiers! ) There's also alot of special productions & events. Just thinking about it makes me want to go again! Whatever you decide - I'm sure you'll have a great time!

:cool1: I'll cast my vote for the November time due to better weather, less crowding and a better time.............Enjoy the DIS!

Welcome aboard!!!!!!

I'm going with the December (early) time -- it's beautiful there (plus you avoid the big winds if another hurricane season comes inland) take in all the decorations - resort competitions are fantastic, and the very merry Christmas party is so much fun. Enjoy.
