Another newbie to Universal and IOA

I was wondering, are there many rides for younger children, ie 5? I am trying to decide if it would be worth it for us to stay at RPR for the FOLP. We will be there the middle of June. It will be myself and my two 5 year olds. The first night there we will be staying at the Doubletree right outside Universal on the Entertainment rate of$64.50 and the RPR for the AAA rate of $183.
