Go ask them to move the stuff again. If they won't, then all you can do is be mad about it. Then you can:
1. Tell your husband how you tried so hard to defend his grass.
2. Fuss about it with your husband over a beer on the porch.
3. Have a full blown conversation about how workers should be able to speak English.
4. Tell your neighbors they hired some real pieces of work to do their roof.
5. Go to bed a hero because you tried to save your husband's grass.

Well for the record, I would have done all 5 choices.

I'm kind of split on any advice. My initial reaction is let it go.
However, to be honest, I came home to find the gas company had dug up my front lawn and threw a fit.
We live in an all electric subdivision, and some neighbors got together and paid $1500 each to have a gas line put in. We wanted nothing to do with it, and didn't sign up. The contractor was nice enough, and called the gas company rep who came right over, and told me they had an easement, so they could dig there. I pulled out the copy of the easement disclosure paper work I got when I bought the house, and pointed out that their easement was on the 5 feet on the BACK of my lot, not the front.
They had a very nice landscaping company come out and put sod down to fix the damage.

Good for you! And just to add, I had no idea that #1 that piece of grass is called an Easement, and #2, I had no idea that it could be in the back yard....

Technically - an easement is any piece of real property that someone other than the owner has access rights to. Some easements are permanent, some are temporary. Most are usually for drainage and/or utility access. They can be anywhere on a property, even right down the middle. Some properties actually have aerial easements (which is weird! LOL).

The area between the sidewalk and the street is called many things: a utility strip, tree lawn, easement, right of way (which is more correct than an easement), green space. Some fancy pants types I know even call it a "verge" (which cracks me up!!! lol).

Anyway, I felt like posting something I actually knew something about, hope you all don't mind!

Oh, and OP...I wouldn't worry about the grass at all!! If your DH just loves working out in the yard, you should be thanking the workers that they gave him more stuff to do!
