I've been following the other thread on here and it's been helpful-- the problem being I'm the most frugal person in the universe but spoiled by priceline and Howard Johnson. I need a jacuzzi and a comfortable bed. We've always driven straight through but all the sudden Husband has decided that getting a hotel on the way down might be a good idea. So I've been going through hotel/motel options past Sacramento to about Santa Nella since he has also decided he hates Sacramento and doesn't want to stop there. Of course not--that's the easiest priceline win....
I've been systematically going through travel sites kind of like the raptor from Jurassic park, testing the fence for weakness. I don't want to spend more than $55 a night. So far no 'friggin luck and my husband won't let me test the waters on Priceline although I'm dying to. I'm a priceline junkie. He's still not sure if staying somewhere overnight is a better idea than driving all night. Last time we swore never again, but the problem is wasting a half day of Disney. My reasoning though at this point is we're going to get there on one of the busiest days this year being one of the last ap non block out days and shortly after WOC is opening. We will have our volunteer fast passes so I figure getting into Anaheim around 3 and trying to check in to the room would be perfect- if it's not ready we could park and go eat somewhere then going in to the parks actually around 5 when it starts to drop off again. We're driving from Eugene Oregon--it's 9 1/2 hours to Santa Nella and then another 4-5 to Disney which I figure would be perfect. Has anyone had any success with bidding on priceline south of Sacramento to Santa Nella or so? There is a Motel 6 with a jacuzzi in Santa Nella but I really hate motel 6's hard beds. Plus someone said they were running some kind of scam when I looked around online...don't feel like messing with that kind of situation. This is frustrating. Any luck with hotels right off I5 in the sacramento area would be ok too.
