The other day, just for kicks, I was surfing Myspace.com, not looking for anyone in particular, just looking in general.

Is it me, or do most people who hang out on myspace do nothing but party? I felt really, really boring after all that surfing. These people party 24/7, the guys all seem to be egotistical jerks and the girls all come off as a word I can't use on the DIS. ;)

I mean, I'm no prude, far from it, and I was into partying when I was young, but I don't ever remember everyone being so obsessed with the whole party image. :confused3

Just an observation after about 2 hours of myspace surfing. ;)

It does seem as though that is what life is all about these days. A lot of people on MySpace are younger but even the 30 somethings seem to party hard.

It's a little scary to me. When you're young, you party, that's always been, but these people seem to have adopted a total party lifestyle, so much so, that they might never be able to become totally responsible adults.

I have a myspace page and a few of my friends do - some spread all across the country so we use it to keep up with each other. I haven't ever just surfed it because I'm not into chatting with random people - outside the DIS that is ;) .

I wouldn't go as far as saying they all want to party.

I'm on myspace, I'd say that most of my real life friends who are on myspace use it as a way to keep up on each others lives. We certainly aren't "partiers" are we are in our late 30 to 50's and above. We've got photo's of our families in our blogs that are restricted to our "friends" or even specific people for viewing.

I guess I just wasn't stumbling on the normal people - I was getting all the party animals - probably because I was simply clicking on everyone else's "friends" - must have started off on a party hardy page and it just continued on and on. ;)

Maybe it was just the group of people you found. Me and most of my friends there are not into that sort of thing. I stick around there for the music, I've found several great bands through there.

Yup, i have a myspace page. BUT I have it set to private so only my friends can view anything on the page. And I basically use it to keep in touch with friends from high school since we're all over the place. I use it to show them pictures of my wonderful family (another reason I have it set to private) and stories about the funny things my son does/says.
I do notice that there are a TON of pages who boast about drinking/partying all the time. That's just not for me. The only people I have on my friends list are people I actaully know! I DO NOT add random people who request me as a friend. And really, why would they? My page is set to PRIVATE! They can't see any of my info!

I think you have the right idea. :thumbsup2
