Hi! Im hoping someone can help me!

I booked 1 night at a Disney resort a few months ago. At the same time, I booked 3 dining venues and a couple of weeks later I purchased Boo Bash tix. After all of this, I ordered Magic Bands on MDE. There was a button saying something like...get your magic bands: start now.... I clicked, chose, paid. They arrived about 6 weeks ago.

So fast forward to about 3 or 4 weeks ago and I saw the price of my resort had dropped $100 per room. I couldnt modify my existing, so ended up cancelling and rebooking at the new price.

In MDE, I still see all my reservations and tickets, but now Im getting the button again to start my MB order.

Does anyone know how I can link all my reservations, resort/dining/tix to the magic bands I bought previously?

My DD and I had 6 bands/cards active. I deactivated all except the new ones we just bought. My DDs friend only has the new one and its active.

IF, we had more than one band active, would this be a problem?

Thanks so much! I usually just check our bands at the front desk during checkin, and set pin, but we will be dining and going to a park 4 days before we check into a Disney resort and on checkin day, we will have breakfast and go to the MK before our rooms are close to being ready (7:30 breakfast at Ohana, but we are staying at the Contemporary that night)

Thank you!

Some people have dozens of active bands. They all work the same.

The MDE system doesn’t know you cancelled and rebooked and had already ordered MBs. It only sees that you have a new reservation, so it is offering you the opportunity to buy MBs for that reservation. It’s programmed into the system. As long as the previous MBs are showing in your MDE, they’re linked, and as long as the resort reservation is showing, it’s linked. You have the choice to order an additional set of MBs and use them interchangeably with the other ones on your trip or else decline them for the new reservation.

To clarify.... we can bring 2 magic bands and they will both work/be loaded with all our ressies/tickets etc...?

I have like 100 magic bands in my account. I usually take a handful [5-10] of activated ones with me on my trips. Sometimes I still have issues with getting in my room etc. depending on which band I use. I usually just stop by the front desk and make sure they are linked to my room properly. Also, once you check in you have 24 hours to have everyone on the reservation enter the room using their band or it deactivates their band. I has this issue in March. I guess for the first day or so of our trip my fiancé always scanned his band and opened the door for me. When i tried to get in on Day 2- I was locked out.

No issues getting in parks though... as long as they are active in MDE they have worked for me!

Yes. Think of MDE as a house that contains your resort reservation, your ADRs, your park pass reservations, etc., all in different rooms. Your MB is simply the key that unlocks the door to the house and allows access to the room that contains the information needed at that moment. For instance, when you tap to enter a park, your MB unlocks the door to the house and connects to your park ticket, and that makes Mickey turn green and let you in. You can have duplicate keys that all do the same thing. So you can use whichever MB you want at any time, as long as it’s listed as Active in your MDE account. As PP said, many people have a collection of MBs and wear different ones with different outfits, when visiting different parks, etc.

Also, once you check in you have 24 hours to have everyone on the reservation enter the room using their band or it deactivates their band.

So if I do online checkin today and am not arriving for 8 more days, Ill be locked out?

We are headed to breakfast and the MK before we go to the resort. I assume our rom wont be ready until the afternoon, but we will already be in FL and have an Ohana ressie for 7:40am, then the kids will take the monrail to the MK from there and I will park my car at the Contemporary and then ride the monorail to the park. We wont be going to our rooms at the Contemporary until after 5pm, to shower/change for Boo Bash that night. Fingers crossed the mids can get into MK with the MBs without issue, because I wont be with them (I say kids, but they are 17 and 19!!!).

1. That is not correct. That won't affect the ability of the room door to work w/MBs.
The room door code(s) won't even be assigned to your MDX account until the day you arrive.
2. I'd not worry about that.

Sorry no, when you actually get to the resort and scan in for the first time. For example, we arrived and my fiance just happened to have opened the door for me for all of our first 24 hours there... when i tried to get in later i was locked out. the CM at the desk told me it was because I didn't use my MB for the first 24 hours we had our room.

In some resorts it can be quite the trek to get back to the check-in area (lookin' at you Saratoga and OKW) so I just stop there and check my bands when I get in. As I said, no issues getting in parks etc. Just getting in my villa.

I wonder if the 24 hour issue would affect the digital key function in the MDE app.

Thanks for clarifying. I'll make sure everyone uses their MB for the room on day 1!
