OK here is my 1st effort in a trip report!!!!!

DOUBLE SCOOP GROUP MAY 27TH-JUNE 3RD
May 25th- May29th

We have been planning this trip for at least 18 months, the time had finally arrived. We have been involved (sorta) with the blabbermouths, (didn’t talk near as much as some), but still had a Magic’al time.

We are me 46

DF 36

DGD 6 (in 3 weeks)

OK here goes nothing. This was our 4th and 5th Disney cruise. We thought it would be nice to hit CC twice so we joined up. We had been in both inside rooms and verandah rooms, so decided that we would try something else. We opted for a Navigator’s Verandah. Was assigned to room 7126 on the portside of the ship (I think), any way it was on the opposite side of CC when docked. We had been watching the pricing and were amazed at the difference in prices from the time we booked until the actual sailing. The price had increased almost double OUCH!!!!!.

We had been on the Aug ‘05 repo of the Magic, so knew what a pain it could be to get people to cover your shift. We had to take off 3 shifts each in order to make the trip. Got that covered and were ready to go. Went ahead and started making final plans to get on the ship in May.

Thursday May 25th

Having worked the night before we got up at 2:30ish to pick up DGD from school, it was the next to the last day. She was graduating from kindergarten in the morning, had planned on getting a short nap later, but that wasn’t to be. We finished packing and getting the car loaded. Got her settled down and situated. Had to be at work at 10:45 pm. So no time for a nap. Went to work and got off around 7:30 the next morning.

Friday May 26th

Got off work and went to pick DGD up from the sitter and get her ready for school. Kindergarten graduation was at 9:00. That took about and hour and a half, was ready to hit the road immediately after it. Got on the road around noon. Got on I-75 right about then, had been hoping to get started just a bit earlier. Had an uneventful road trip down to New Smyrna Beach. There was a small DIS Mini meet planned for JB’s Fish Camp. We got off the interstate and following directions we had been given, we drove and drove and drove and drove until we thought we were going to run out of road. Just before we ran out of road, there was JBs. We were the 1st to arrive with the Pugs behind us by a few minutes. We got out and introduced ourselves to each other while waiting on the others to arrive. People were straggling in along and along. We met quite a few of the “blabbermouths” . Mary and Mark were there and handed out the button and navigator packets. They came in very handy throughout the week, helping to identify other DIS blabbermouths. We finally ended up with more than 20 people for the meet. A good time was had and we ate dinner. We left around 6 ish. Drove on done to Cocoa to visit my brother a few. Of course, they weren’t home, just the girls. It was getting to be pretty nasty so we left and headed on down to Cape Canaveral where we were staying the night and had a room at the Radisson. There was another meet scheduled there by the pool but had to be moved indoors, due to the in climate weather. We got checked in and were in the back of the resort, which was OK. When going into the lobby, there were a lot of Blabbermouths already there. We went ahead and checked in and moved our luggage into the room. We had been assigned room 513, I thought of Andy (Verandah Man), when I noticed the room number. It was a nice room. 2 double beds, plenty for us. By now it was around 8ish and we had been up more than 28 hours. We went back to the lobby and met more Blabbermouths. We stayed and visited for a bit and then went back to the room. We finally crashed around 9:30ish. DF and DGD slept all night, I tried to go to sleep, but was just too excited, kinda like the kids on the Disney vacation commercial, slept for around 5 hours and just bolted out of bed, afraid we had over slept. Got up and wandered around the resort for a few, before going back to the room. It was still kinda stormy. Finally, it got to be time to get the other 2 up.

Saturday May 27th

We got up and got our stuff gathered together. Went to the front and ate breakfast, it had been included on the rate. Left the waiter a pretty decent tip, then got a cart to get our stuff back to the front of the resort. Loaded the cart and while DF and DGD were getting it to the front of the resort, I was parking the car in the cruise parking lot. It was way in the back in another area. You had to park in yellow striped lines. Made it back to the front of the resort and they were already up there. DF had had a man following her form the room to the lobby, kinda freaked her a bit, but he was waiting on the luggage cart. This was around 8:30ish, the first shuttle isn’t until 10:00 and there were only a few luggage carts to be used. She unloaded the cart and he took it. Not to be seen again until nearly 10:00 (grumble). Many people were waiting to use the luggage carts and he had tied one up for that long period of time. We saw luggage being brought from the rooms in those huge linen carts. We had on our Blabbermouth t’s for the trip to the ship. We met a lot of others that weren’t connected to the DIS that stayed at the Radisson, and they wanted to know where we had gotten the shirts and if we were part of a tour group or something. Finally, it was time to begin loading onto the shuttle. There were three shuttles running back and forth to the cruise terminal. We got on the 3rd shuttle, I believe. There were a few other DIS families on it also. Got to the terminal area and was let out. Made it into the terminal in good time and was given boarding number 4. We had done all the online registering that we were supposed to do, but something didn’t print out, so we had to go all through that again,(grumble). We finally made it through registration and went over to the other side of the terminal, where there were masses and masses of DISers. DF took DGD and got her registered in the clubs, or rather got her bracelet. Tried to get a soda, and found out that the KTTW card was the only way to do that. It had already started, Disney was getting your money, just swipe the card and there it goes. We waited a bit more, talking and meeting DISers. DF and DGD went over to the character lines and had pictures taken with Goofy and Mickey Mouse. I stayed with the carry on luggage that we kept with us. Finally, it was time to board. It was relatively painless. Our boarding number was called and we just got in line, wading through the folks that were along the queue. We stopped and had the obligatory embarkation picture. We made it on board as they called out the *******/**** family.

On the navigator for the day, it was noted that you could try and make PALO reservations once you boarded. We made a bee line to the RBD, to make reservations. No such luck. The girl (Gemma) said the line had been out the door since embarkation started, so we had to put our name on the waiting list. We did that, but I knew we wouldn’t make it to Palo’s. Gemma was pushing for dinner at Palo’s, but we had already been there, done that and didn’t want to do it again. There were plenty of openings for dinner. On a side note, the couple behind us got Palo reservations for brunch on Thurs, we had talked to them before embarking and then again at lunch in PC. We got that taken care of and went on to Parrot Cay for lunch. It was a pretty nice buffet type lunch, we stuffed ourselves with the peel-n-eat boiled shrimp. Finished lunch around 12:30ish and went up to the 9th deck, so DGD could swim for a while before getting into the room. I went on up to the 10th deck with the carryon’s and they stayed on the 9th. It was scorching up there. We stayed there for a while, went to the room around 2ish and cooled off. I had a terrible heat headache and took a nap. Woke up around 3:30 and was feeling a bit better, but not enough to try and make it back into the heat to make the DIS meet scheduled for that time. By the time we finally got moving again it was time for the life boat drill. It was Wonderful to have it in Animators. We got there and it appeared that no one was missing so the drill went off without a hitch. WE went back and ditched the Life preservers and went up to top decks to watch the sail away party. We ran into a few more DISers. One of the members had had to cancel the cruise and was going to be on the rocks at Jetty Park watching the ship go by and a banner had been made for him. WE missed seeing the banner as it was down on Deck 4. We were somewhat disappointed, but were ok as we weren’t really too too blabber mouthy.

DF and DGD were down on deck 9 during the sail away and had front and center standing area for the show that the characters put on. It got kind of crowded and some of the older kids were pushing their way up to the front, (grumble). Not watching where they were going, stepping on toes, elbowing sides. It was fun. After the show with the characters, they came up to the 10th deck and we wandered around for a bit. After that we went back to the room to get ready for the show that night, while we were getting ready for the supper, our luggage arrived and we started unpacking it. The show was All Aboard, Let the Magic Begin. We enjoyed the show, even though we had already seen it before. After the show, it was time for dinner.

We had late seating, as we like. A lot of the “blabbermouths” had linked their dining, but we had decided not to and take our chances with who we sat with. We did get the same rotation as them, APL. We were seated with a family of 4 from NH. Our serve team was Aleksandra, head server, Don, Server and Beethoven, assistant server. We must carry a bad omen with our fellow diners, as the last family we sat with, their luggage got lost and this family’s luggage was also lost. We ate and watched the show, (color changing) and then went to bed. We were exhausted. Tomorrow was our first CC day.

Sunday May 28th

Woke up this morning as the captain was trying to dock at CC. The change in the engine sounds were terrible in our room, even though we were up on the 7th floor, we could still hear and feel the vibrations. I went out onto the balcony(verandah) and watched him dock and then watched as they started unloading supplies for the day. DF and DGD got woken up and went to topsiders for breakfast before getting off the ship. We got off the ship and saw members of the Scuba and Tink family waiting for their excursions. We had forgotten the bucket of sand toys in the room, so DF went back up there to get them. I and DGD waited and people watched. We made it to the tram and to the drop off site ok. While walking along the path to SheSellsSeaShells, we ran into Mickey and Pluto changing off for pictures. Took some of DGD with tem and then went on to SheSells, for a look around We didn’t buy anything that morning, and went on to the raft pickup place and got our rafts. We had gone on line to the Disney cruise site and rented the two for one deal on the rafts for 2, so we got one of each. The raft was slightly split on one side and the tube was ok. More on this later. We went walking down the beach , looking for a place to park it for the day. The photographers were out doing their thing and taking all sorts of pics. DGD got her picture taken several times on the way to the beach. We finally make it to a place that was relatively not crowded and parked it. Put our stuff down and got into the water. BRRR it was still kinda chilly. DGD just ran right in there. It took me a few mins to decide that yea, this is ok. DF just parked it near the water with her book. She stayed there most of the time, reading and watching DGD playing in the water. I took the raft out and looked like a baby whale trying to fight myself onto it. Finally, made it and just floated around for a bit. Now back to the small tear in the raft. HMMM.. By the time I got through fighting the darn thing it was like a Grand Canyon rip. No more usage of the raft, so I just fiddled about in the more shallow water with the DGD.

Decided by now we were hungry and made it up to Cookies to eat. It was pretty much the same menu as it has always been, hamburgers, salads, hotdogs, ribs and corn. Made our plates and went to sit down to eat. Now, DGD hasn’t had front teeth for a long time, but can tear up an ear of corn and loved the ribs,(chicken as she calls all meat). We ate and then went back to the beach area for a while, and had had enough of that as we knew this cruise was really loaded down with sun, sand and beach days. We headed back to the ship somewhere around 2ish.

Took DGD up to play in the Mickey Pool for a bit, before getting ready for the show. Tonight it was a comedic ventriloquist show Lyn Trefzger. She was hilarious, we have never seen her show before, and so we quite enjoyed it. We finished watching the show and then went to the atrium area and did some character pictures. Had supper at PC tonight, our table mates showed up. They had kids around 4 and 7, I believe. Don’t remember the menu. Even though we weren’t linked with the late dining DISers, were about 2 rows away from them, we saw them a bit just never went over. (Shy folks, here).

At supper, our servers, pretty good, remembered what we liked to drink, Shirley Temples for me and DGD and a Diet Coke with no ice for DF. Brought our drinks to the table and our mates ordered the same. Beethoven made sure the kids had plenty of cherries in their drinks,

DGD would drink her drink and then go “fishing” in her ice for the cherries, forgoing some of her known table manners. We finished dinner and went back to room for a good nights sleep. Tomorrow is a sea day.

Monday May 29th SEADAY #1

This morning we awakened later than usual, around 7 ish. We didn’t have much planned. Went up to Topsiders and had our usual breakfast of omelets, cereal for the DGD and some ham or bacon. Today, there was a Ducky Williams talk planned for 10 a.m. We went and got in line around 9:30ish for opening at 9:45. There were people already standing around waiting for the doors to open. We got our tickets and make a quick trip down to the front of the WDT. Got situated and watched as others came in. This was a sea day, so there was also a Palo Brunch on tap. A group of the ‘blabbermouths’ had reservations, so left midway through the presentation. We had their tickets and after the show, Ducky would sign the pictures he had drawn and they were raffled off. The presentation was interesting as he told about his start and career with the Disney Company. It was almost the same talk, with a very small variation as we had heard on the August cruise. While he was talking, he was also sketching Disney characters. There were around 20 or more of them to be raffled off. We all were steadily glancing at the numbers on our tickets as they were called off. Up came a Stitch drawing and then the number was called out. OH my God!!!!!!! That is one of our numbers!!!! We collected the drawing and drew another ticket from the bucket. This went on for a while and then an Ariel drawing came up for grabs. Here goes again. Numbers called. OHHHHHHH…. Did you say xxxxxx??? Yep that is what was called. I got so excited that I jumped up, spilled the drink in the holder all over DF, down her pants, into the camera and all. That is my number. We collected that drawing and drew another number. Sat back down and spilled the rest of the drink on her. NO more jumping up for me. Would have to try and contain my excitement. No more of our numbers were called. The Stitch drawing belonged to the couple that had the Palo brunch. We were excited and left the theater. There were character meet and greets planned about this time, so DF and DGD stopped for pictures. I went on to the room to put up the treasures. They came in shortly after and we called the friends stateroom to let them know they were the proud owners of a Stitch drawing signed by Mr. Williams.

I think we went up to the Mickey pool for a while after this. Then to lunch and back to the room for a nap. I did a lot of napping on this cruise.

We got ready for the night showing of The Golden Mickey’s. It was great as always. We didn’t get one of the black billing type vinyl 8x10 in the room announcing it this trip. Don’t know if they have quit using them or not. We got DGD ready for the Show, She wanted to wear her Belle dress for it and walk down the red carpet prior to the show. We got to the theater and they stayed out waiting on time for Rona to begin her preshow. We had pretty good seats up front and DF got some good shots of the finale with using flash.

This was formal night, and we were in Lumiere’s. We had a pretty good table in all the restaurants. The photographer came around and took pics of us. I believe this was the last night that our table mates made it to dinner. So for the rest of the trip it was just the 3 of us at a table for 7. We had an enjoyable dinner, by now, Beethoven had learned pretty much what we liked to drink. He got to where he would bring DGD’s cherries in a bowl all by themselves and our drinks with just a few cherries in them, to keep her from getting into trouble by trying to fish the cherries out. He had first brought a spoon to use to fish the cherries, but we decided that wasn’t a good idea.. On ward from the dinner. DGD didn’t make it through dinners very much, but the time dessert rolled around she was asleep between us with her head in DF’s lap and her feet and body in another chair, which was OK as we had the table to our selves.

After the dinner was over, they went to the room and I went to the RBD for the adult comedy of last night’s ventriloquist. It was standing room only, by the time I got there. So up to the bar area I went to claim a spot. After standing there for a few minutes Sir Scuba came in and circled the room and then came back where there was a little bit of room to stand. Shortly afterwards, someone came around and said they were going to broadcast the show and we could go somewhere else to watch it, we were quite ok to watch it there. So out comes the DJ trying to get the crowd going. Asking if anyone liked country music, well, being the person I am, I kept my hand down. LOL… (Knows not to raise my hand). He went on to ask if any one liked Garth Brooks, (ok he is one of my favorite country music singers). Still keeping my hand down, and he broke out with my all time favorite Garth song. Friends in Low Places. YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unable to contain my excitement , I had to break out and help him along with it. Sir Scuba by the way was right beside me. You didn’t raise your hand when they asked about country music (or something like that). Nope not me, know what happens when you do that. Embarrassment city.. Nope can’t do that. So on it rocks and here comes the DJ come on ya'll give me a YEHAW!!!! All of a sudden there it was, my mouth opened and out it came YEHAWWWWWW!!!! And away it went. Red faced and all here I am singing right along with the guy. Thank God, I probably didn’t know anyone else in the room. The song was over and then the ventriloquist came out and did her show. It was just as hilarious and the evening show was and really wasn’t too PG for me. The show got over and into the stateroom I went. Tomorrow is Costa Maya day.

Tuesday May 30th

Costa Maya

I woke up this morning again as the ship was changing gears, maybe, anyway the noises changed and I got up and watched as we docked in Costa Maya. Eventually, I woke DF and DGD up and we got ready for the day. We went up to Topsider’s and had breakfast, before going back to the room to gather up our belongings for the day.

I watched as a lot of people left the ship shortly after all clear was called. We left the ship around 10ish. Made our way down the pier on the tram that was running. We got into the little shopping area and there were people forever asking to show their wares. We just said no thanks and kept on walking. We had no plans for the day other than swimming it their pool.

Got the pool area and put our stuff down, slathered up with sunscreen and got into the pool We had put Dom’s regular bright green swim suit on, but that wasn’t going to cut it today, the pool had too many depths to let her play in it, so we took her out and put her floaty bathing suit on. Now she could paddle all over the pool and we wouldn’t have to worry about her drowning. She played in the fountain area a while, before adventuring into the deeper area of the pool. I got into the pool and spent time with here there. We made our way to the end of the pool and took some pictures of the Magic in the background. Took a few pics for some other people. We went back to the front of the pool area and were ready to go. We and saltwater pools just don’t mix. We took Dom and changed out of her floaty bathing suit and put her little swim cover up on.

Headed back to the ship by 12ish. Stopped and watched some of the artists doing their thing. We watched as one was painting pictures on it looked like metal plates. They were beautiful. Went on along the way and saw a pharmacy type store. We went in there and spent 4$ on some Tums, the only medicine that we had forgotten to bring. Went and back to the ship and ate lunch.

While sitting at Topsider’s, I noticed that we didn’t have the floaty bathing suit. ACHHH!!!! I asked DF if she had it, nope. Dog gone it we must have left it in the changing area off the ship. DF offered to go and get the suit. Thank goodness we were the only ship in port that day. She left and we were in the Mickey pool. It was getting crowded and Dom had decided that she would no listen and into the stateroom we went. She made it off the ship and to the changing room and there the thing was. Someone had hung it up on a nail and was just a waiting on us to get it. She came back to the ship and we were in the room by then. We watched as she made it down the pier. She came to the room and we were ready to take a nap.

They were having a matinee of Twice Charmed today and she wanted to see it. As it was nap time, Dom and I stayed in the room and napped. She came back and asked if we were going to spend the whole day in the bad and we just nodded our head. Yup, and we took a 6 hour nap that day. She came back and we were still sleeping. We finally got up in time to see the 6 o’clock showing. We watched it and took a few more pictures and then went to dinner. After dinner we went back to bed. This was a lazy day for us. Tomorrow is Cozumel day.

Wednesday May 31st

I woke up again as the engines were changing sounds. Today was Cozumel day. All we had planned was going to Paradise Beach and letting Dom play in the water or in the sand. We did our usual topsiders breakfast. We picked up towels by the pool for the day and made our way to the WDT, as that was the meeting place for the tendering. As we had no plans or excursions, we waited. We were probably the 2nd tender after the excursions. We got on the tender and made it to the pier. WE could not believe the devastation of the area. Hurricanes had really torn up the area.

After leaving the pier area, you went across the street to get a cab to the place you wanted to go. There were men there that got you a cab and told you how much it would be. It was $13 to take you to Paradise Beach. The drive was an experience in itself. The driver flew down the narrow road. We took more pictures of the area. It was just devasting to see. We made it to Paradise Beach in one piece; the cabbie didn’t have any change so we just let it go. HMMM a good teaching experience!!!!

We went through the building and staked our claim. Hmmm was putting our stuff down and along came a waiter asking if we wanted a drink. No thanks, He replied that if we weren’t drinking then we couldn’t sit in the chairs. My gosh, we had just gotten there, so we moved further down the beach and got seats. I mean way down the beach. Almost to the pier area. But it was ok. Another family was setting up camp there also. We got Dom ready for the water and got us some chairs, around the umbrella. She went out and started playing in the water. We had taken the Sand bucket with toys with us. I bought a wrist band that allowed the usage of all the non powered amenities, floats, the water trampoline and the ice burg thingy. Never used anything but the floats, but at least we got to sit in the chairs.

Saw quite a few DIS families’ there. The area where we were camped at was quite rocky, so you had to wear your shoes the whole time you were in the water. Dom stayed pretty close to the edge of the water and played with her toys. Along came a little boy that wanted to play, so they played there for a long time. We just watched and occasionally would get into the water.

Around 12ish, we decided that we were hungry and ordered something from the wandering waiters. The food was ok. We wound up spending around $30 on food and water for our day in Paradise.

While sitting around I saw Amanda and her family, went down and talked to them for a bit, before moving back to our area. We were down by the pier area, where you can get the kayaks and stuff. Amanda came down and got her a kayak. She and her daughter made it out in to the deep. Picture????

We had had enough of the Beach and went to get ready to go back to the ship. There is a nice place to wash the sand and salt off of you at the front. We got all desalted/desanded and looked for a taxi. Ok now, there weren’t any of the cars, so we had to take a van back to the pier area. We agreed on a price $13 and off we went. This driver was much more cautious with his driving. It took a bit longer to make it back to town.

He dropped us off in the shopping district, probably about 3 blocks further down than where we were picked up. As a matter of fact it was right in front of the place that was advertised on his taxi!!!!!!.. We gave him his $13 and he just looked at it. OH WELL… we had already tipped all we were going to for the taxis in Cozumel. We didn’t buy anything in his store, made it along the mall area and found a nice cold Soda. Bought 2 of them for $2. Not bad. Went on down the street and found an open air type market and bought a few souvies, we only had like $40 on us. We spent that and headed back to the ship. There were people all around us hawking their stuff. WE walked back to the pier area and took a few pics of Dom on the pier area with the ship in the background. We got in line for the tendering back to the ship and talked to a few more DIS families.

Made it back to the ship and got ready for the show. It was pirate night so there wasn’t another predinner show. They were showing The Wild in the WDT. We went in and started watching it. I stayed for just a little while and had to go. It was just too loud for me. DF and DGD stayed for the whole thing. (Probably would have been better taking a nap).. I took a few pictures while they were in the show.

After the show it was time for dinner. We were in PC for the evening. Our servers were dressed as pirates and it was pretty cool. They have the pose down perfect for picture taking. As Dom hadn’t had a nap today she didn’t make it through dinner and was passed out before we even got the first course. We made it through dinner, Dom and I went back to the room and DF went up to watch the Pirate show and the fireworks. I was still awake when she got back, but Dom had been out for the count. We went to sleep after reading for a few minutes. Tomorrow is a sea day, so another lazy day for us.

Thursday June 1st

Woke up the normal time and watched the sunrise, let the other 2 sleep for a while and then went up on top decks to take a few pictures of the ship. Stopped in at Goofy’s and got some Stollen bread. OH my God!!!!! That was pretty good bread. Took some back to the room and woke the girls up. We got ready and went for our usual topsider’s breakfast. We had absolutely no plans for today other than making it to Ducky Williams presentations. We finished breakfast and went back to the room for a while. We had to leave so the hostess could make it up.

We went on up to the WDT to wait for the doors to open. There were already a few people there waiting. We had some good conversation and then they opened the doors. WE went in and started scoping out somewhere to sit. We like to sit close down to the front so we can see well. We picked out a row to sit in and were making our way to the center of it. While we were doing this, they were coming in from the other side. We got to the seat and was about to sit down and this Special Man was quite ugly and said, M'am, do you realize you are sitting in the seat I was about to put my son in. Ok, so I didn’t realize it, and move to another row. I am talking about an almost empty theater, we were there so early. It really was kind of ridiculous. There were quite a few DISers at this show. We all got seated and were having a jolly ole time. DF had to leave for a few and I was saving her seat. Along came another DIS family that I hadn’t yet met. Finally on Thurs we met the OHIO Mouse family.

WE watched the Ducky presentation and he had the drawings up for raffle again. Numbers started being called out. I wasn’t paying real close attention and then I glanced at my numbers. Did you say xxxxxx, YUP that is the number. HEYYYYY!!!!!!!!!! That is my number!!!! No drink to spill this time. And I was the proud owner of another Ducky drawing. This time it was Pongo.

I don’t think we did much the rest of the day, lazed around and watched the sea go by. I think we went to the show that afternoon. Napped and such. Tomorrow is CC day 2 so we turned in early.

Friday June 2nd CC day

We didn’t have anything planned for today. We woke up to the sound of the engines,(thrusters) changing gears again as the captain was docking at CC. Went out onto the dec 7 overlook and took a few pictures of the rapidly fading rainbow that greeted the Magic as she docked. Went back to the room and woke the other 2 up. Made our way to Topsiders for our routine breakfast. Finished and watched as folks made their way off the ship.

We got ready and departed, not leaving anything behind this time. We left the ship around 10 am. Was in no hurry. Stopped at SheSells and bought the Twice the Magic t-shirts and a new CC t-shirt. We had them sent to the ship and were to pick them up later today. Went on around to the Raft place and got the 2nd day rentals. We were going to get 2 rafts as we had gotten the tube and raft on the 1st day, but got the same today.

Walked for a while until we found an opened spot on the beach to put our stuff down. We met up several of the photographers and they took pics of Dom on the way to the water. Let her play for a while, as I had gotten on the raft and floated way out to the Lifegurards stand. Took a few pictures of the Magic out in the distance. Then floated back to the beach and played with Dom for a while.

It had gotten to be lunch time, so we headed on up to Cookies to eat. They had different foods out today than they had had on Sunday. We had a filet of some kind of fish, salmon, maybe. The rest was pretty much the same. We finished lunch and made it back to the beach area.

The whole time we had been on the beach, Dom kept asking where her friend was. We finally saw them and they started playing in the water together, making our lives much quieter. She now had someone to occupy her time with. They had a blast together again today. We let them play until around 3 or so, when we were ready to head back to the ship.

We left the beach and washed the salt and sand off, LOL that was the most refreshing shower we had taken. We got to the post office area before we really wanted to. Terk was to be out around 4 pm and we just waited around. Dominique played in the shower area and we washed off the toys. People watched and such.

While we were waiting on Terk to show up, one of the ships’ officers’ showed up and asked if we wanted some Free rum punch, they had alcoholic, but were waiting on the non-alcoholic. We declined, as we neither one drink, much. While we were waiting, we almost missed Terk and had to sprint over to the PO to get a pic with her.

After the picture we made our way back to the boarding area, and I decided to try one of the rum punches. LOL they were kinda strong. We went on up to the room and got a good shower and got ready for the evening.

While the other 2 were in the room getting ready, I was on the verandah watching people and noticed a helicopter getting closer and closer. It landed up at the front of the ship. Noticed that 2 men got out and then I called DF to come look. We were too far away to see or hear what was going on. By then it was my turn in the shower and when I got out the helicopter was gone.

We had to finish packing up the room in order to have the luggage outside the door by the designated time.

After we got ready, we went down to the atrium and talked to Rachel, cruise director, for a few minutes and got an invitation to the Studio Sea character meet and greet for that night at 10. By now it was time to go and watch the Last show on the Magic. It is always a tear jerker. And tonight was no exception. While watching the show, we had the Special family sitting in front of us. Still don’t know who they are, but we ran into them regularly. They were on the same dinner schedule and the same area as we were, so we saw them quite a bit. Any way, they were sitting in front of us and the Special Mom, turned around and was kind of nasty to Dom. We had been trying to keep her from putting her feet on the back of the Special Mom’s seat, but she would forget and reach out with her feet to push herself back. Well, this Special Mom, turned around and told her if she didn’t keep her feet off the back of her seat she might just slap her. Excuse me, we have been trying, if you dodnt like it you should have sat in the back of the theater, wehre you wouldn’t have to worry about getting your seat touched. We finished watching the show and wandered around for a bit before going to dinner.

We had dinner in Animator’s for the last night, it was ok, nothing special to write home about. We handed out our tip envelopes during dinner. It took not very long to finish, but we had an appointment to keep, so we left before the parade of Countries.

We made our way through Shutters and stopped at StudioSea, for the meet and greet. Dom had her Minnie stuffed character with her and she put her up to peek in, but the characters weren’t there yet. We hung around outside for a few minutes before going in. The characters began arriving a few minutes later. They were the cast of the Til We Meet again Show. The last time we had been invited to the meet and greet, they just all got together and took a group photo with the person in it. Tonight, they mingled and you got to take whatever photo you wanted. We got pictures of Dom with all the princesses, Mickey and Minnie Mouse and a few others. There were probably 8-10 family’s here. It lasted for about 20 minutes or so. After the meet and greet is when the characters came out and just dispersed throughout the atrium and the 4th floor.

We had made it over to the 4th floor alcove thing abouve and across from Lumiere’s to watch the huge meet and greet. We took a lot of pics of them as they mingled. At the end of the mingling, all the characters lined up on the stairs and in front of Lumiere’s for the last song. It was great as always. At the end of the song, it seems like pixie dust just kept falling and falling. We took Dom down to the third floor to collect her pixie dust.

After the show she and I went back to the room as DF wanted to go to the adult venue that night. At 10:45, I believe in the RBD, the cast was having a small farewell show.

She got back to the room and we called it a night. Boo hoo.. tomorrow we get off the ship.

Saturday June 3rd

Our last morning on the Magic. We woke up around 6:30. the ship had already docked and was unloading. We got ready and went to Animator’s. this was the 1st time we had eaten breakfast somewhere other than Topsiders. We didn’t see our table mates at a meal since the character breakfast. Breakfast this morning is about the most rushed we had been all week. We got through with breakfast and made our way to the atrium for leaving the ship.

We were off the ship by 8:30. We made it through customs without a hitch, they didn’t ask for any type of documentation, other than the Bahamas form.

We were surprised and got the same luggage handler that helped us on the Repo cruise last august.

We got to the curb and the Radisson shuttle was there, like it was waiting for us. Our luggage got loaded and off we went. We were on the interstate by 9:30.

We watched a storm system moving in the whole time we were heading north. We got caught up in a military convoy north of Daytona, so it took quite a while to make it to St. Augustine. We got there around noon and wanted to hit the Disney Outlet store there. We dropped a small bucket of money there and went to Wendy’s for lunch, finishing up just as the bottom fell out of the storm system, before heading on up the road. We got home around 4:30ish, unloaded and started the laundry.

Final thoughts

We had a good time. It was nice getting to meet some of the family’s that we had been talking to for the last 18 months. We aren’t for sure if we will join in another cruise meet thread or not. Sometimes it is a good thing and others it isn’t. It is nice to see folks around the ship and just say Hey too and other times it is like getting your feelings hurt when you miss out on some of the meetings.

We pretty much did our own thing. We had a very relaxing, lazy vacation. We met people on the cruise that we hope to keep in touch with and others that I know we probably won’t. The family from South Carolina and Miami really made the beach days for Dom and that is what this was all about.

Thanks to all!!!!

Patty - thanks for a great trip report. Getting invited to the meet and greet for the characters sounded really cool. I didn't know they did that.

Sorry to hear you had hurt feelings with the group. It certainly wasn't meant to be that way. Honestly the only meeting planned was the 3 pm DIS meet. There are a number of people I met online that I never even saw on the ship. Seems you kind of get into a groove and you keep seeing all the same people. I enjoyed meeting you, Misty and Dom!

Excellent report Patti! I love reading trip reports. Where are the pics? You guys sure spent a lot of beach time this cruise. Imagine, you had as many port stops in 7 days as we just had last August over 14 days.

I hope we get to sail together again some day. Even though you choose the late seating, I always enjoyed bumping into you guys and seeing your little Pirate gal. It's hard for early diners and late diners to get their schedules to work together. :confused3 I would imagine Dom is getting to be a big girl now! She has excellent manners, it stinks that woman threatened her. I can still hear her little voice calling me "Ma'am" :goodvibes

Please congratulate little Dom on her moving up from kindergarten accomplishment from me and Victoria!

Great report!
I think it is a little much to expect people to sit in the back of theater to ensure they are not bothered with getting their seat backed kicked. I don't agree with how she went about telling your little one to stop putting her feet on the back of her chair it was unacceptable. Was it possible for you to move to the front row to ensure your child would not bother others if she kept forgetting about not putting her feet up?

Kids will act like kids parents need to act like parents. :furious:

Oh, Pul-eeze! Any woman who threatens a child with hitting does NOT belong on a Disney Cruise, or around children at all. I taught kindergarten for 7 years and I can tell you, if pushing on the seat in front of her was considered bad behavior, than kudos to the parents! Something like that may escape notice of the person sitting with a child. And the OP said they had asked her not to do it. I don't condone ignoring irritating behavior, but if I'm on a Disney Cruise I'm going to expect some minor irritations from children. What happened to, "Honey, it bothers me when you push on my seat with your feet, could you please not do that" !?

Patty, I enjoyed your trip report. We seemed to just pass in the hallway all the time. I have to admit I was jealous that you got a Ducky Williams :artist: drawing with us sitting next to you and we got NOTHING :confused3 ! I guess they didn't stir up those tickets enough. Oh, that was the complaint from the back of the theater... :rotfl:

Your missing my point and making it at the same time. Look at the big picture. Any disruption is not polite. You may not think a kid putting their feet on the back of your chair is a big deal but you never know how others will feel or how they will react. That is the whole point of being polite.
Is it wrong for another person to expect to watch a show in peace?

I question a stranger threatening a child that way. Is it possible the story was a bit embellished? I don't know, I was not there and neither were you. I did say I didn't approve of how the lady did it. Is it a big deal to put up with a little kicking? Ya but is it a big deal to stop?

I think what bothered me was the fact that the person who was being annoyed was expected to move. I don't get that mentality. It would be like telling non smokers to go outside if the smoke bothers you. If you don't like my child being impolite leave! I just don't get that and it seems to be more common in all public places.

I stand by the statement: kids will be kids, parents need to be parents. It is the job of the parents to teach their children the importance of being polite and be aware of others feelings.

My point was that a woman who reacts so intensly to a child putting their feet on her seat probably should have sat somewhere that she wouldn't have been bothered. IE: Back Row. Taking the story at face value, the OP asked the child to stop (Parenting!) and the little girl was using the seat to push herself up; woman way overreacted. When I go to a rated R movie, I expect grown up behavior. When I am in any type of kid's zone, I expect some again, minor, irritations. I have 2 sons, and believe me, I don't tolerate any kind of bad behavior, but I did have a man once turn around in a theater and ask my son to stop pushing on his seat. I hadn't known he was doing it, problem solved. Anyway, way off topic. Sorry.

Good post. People are moving within a theater on a moving vessel, there is bound to be some disruptions.

This child is exceptionally well-mannered. I highly doubt this story was embellished, knowing the author. The people were not expected to move, but they are expected not to threaten a small child. It was a suggestion that if they did not expect disruptions on the back of their chair, there is a spot in the theater where seat disruptions will not happen.

Great trip report! Thanks for sharing it!

I think I kinda know what you mean about the other DIS'ers and agree with Mary that it does seem like you get in a groove and keep seeing the same people the entire time. That's certainly what happened to me. But it does seem now (hindsight and all that) that DIS'ers were around me a lot and I just wasn't being observant! (from reading trip reports I mean) I know what you mean though- from the group thread I really thought I'd see more people I "knew" but it really wasn't that way. I think next time we should have more meets planned than just one (on deck 10 in the sun no less! LOL). I think I didn't recognize people from just that one time... it's apparent from reading trip reports that they were all around me quite often and I just didn't know it. :rotfl:

About the seat thing- that lady did WAY overreact! And I do speak from experience. There was one show that a young lad just kept kicking my seat over and over. To be fair- the seats are not that great.. the way they lean back not ONLY make shorties like myself have our feet off the ground and our legs to go sleep- but it's even worse for little people (ie: kids). For instance my youngest was like half folded up and just crossed her legs otherwise her legs would have been going straight up and her feet almost as high as her head. She couldn't hold the seat down once it leaned back when she sat down! The child that was kicking me was heavier and slightly taller than my little one- and his feet were JUST at the right spot that if he barely kicked his feet out he was kicking my seat hard.

Ofcourse I didn't react like that lady did- but it was quite bothersome. I just kept whispering in my husband's ear (you know, venting... gotta vent sometimes LOL) that this kid keeps kicking me! Finally he put his arm around me so he could feel it and the next time he felt him kicking me he just put his arm down where the kid was kicking me (so the kid would have to kick his arm instead of the chair) and just glanced back at him -like letting him know he was kicking me. I think he got his arm kicked a few times after that though.. neither of us said anything to the kid though. I mean we could tell he wasn't doing it on purpose- it's just where his feet were and if he moved his feet- he was kicking me! I  DH for taking the kicks in the arm so I didn't end up with whiplash from this kid kicking me forward over and over. LOL

The seats need to be "rethought" or something. They really aren't good (nor comfortable) for those that are short or for kids. It's not just the leaning back thing either- I think they are set too high or something and the seats (rows) are really close. I came to this realization because after the cruise I not only went to my eldest band concert (in a theatre type setting like on DCL) but also went to the movies once... both places the seats have that "lean back" comfy thing going BUT my feet still touched the ground and there was more room between rows at both those places. In neither place would a short person like me become uncomfortable with feet not touching the ground and legs falling asleep NOR would little kids (ie: even shorter than me LOL) be able to accidentally kick the seats in front of them. The closeness of the seats in DCL would be acceptable but WITH the leaning back thing- a recipe for disaster as witnessed in this thread. She shouldn't have reacted that way but I can speak from experience that it's quite bothersome if someone is kicking you over and over. But don't blame the kid- blame the seats! It's really and truly the seats fault. :(
