Another Magic Bands Question: Am I right about this?

Okay our trip is in 16 days. We're splitting our stay between AKV and BLT, and I ordered our park tickets last night, and checked us in online. I decided to do the will call for our park tickets, because we're actually in the process of moving into a new house, and we'll be staying with my mother-in-law for a couple of weeks (and our Disney trip is right in the middle of this...which we didn't plan it this way, it just happened!) so I was afraid to have the tickets sent to us at our current address, BUT now I'm thinking that I should just go ahead and have them shipped! What I'm wondering about it is this: The whole point of FP+ is because of Magic Bands correct? If we don't have Bands, then we'll still be able to get paper FPs for whichever rides we want? They wouldn't give us Bands for will call tickets would they, since we wouldn't be able to take advantage of FP+? I know this probably sounds like a broken record question lol. If I asked for them to go ahead and ship tickets, then is there the likely-hood of us getting Bands? I'm trying to decide what we should do in the mist of all of our chaos lol!

I just did the whole moving thing with a Disney vaycay right smack in the middle in June! Lol! We didn't plan on that happening either. :)

So to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. FP+ is a park of the new magic+. We tested it out in dec using the KTTW card that had the new RFID chip in it. The magic bands will be used just like the KTTW card. Basically I look at the bands as an alternative to the KTTW cards. You are correct if you have the bands you will not be able to get regular FPs at the machines. They wouldn't give you bands at will call correct. Right now they are still just testing the bands. If you were chosen to participate in the test you would have to have tickets linked to a resort reservation

Here is what happened to me. I was just exploring the MDE site last Sat. because my trip was about 3 weeks away. My trip is split between BWV and AKV. I was given the option to oder magic bands for the AKV part of the reservation. I have an AP ,but my husband does not have a ticket yet. We are getting him a discounted hopper to be activated at gate. We will link his ticket it at that time and then be able to do FP + selections before moving over to the AKV. I ordered my Magic bands and got an email saying the were shipped on Monday and arrived on Tuesday! Looking forward to playing around with this and trying it out.

The whole "we have to be out of our house the WEEK OF our trip" is freaking me out! The people want to close on Sept 6th and that's basically the night we're leaving! We check in on the 7th! So, as far as being able to link all my ressies and park tickets and such, I have on My Disney Experience online, and it's linked to my mobile app too. Would we have gotten Magic bands if we'd ordered our tickets earlier? With so much going on we were close to forgetting! I guess it doesn't really matter that much, but I was just curious.

Well, I was wondering if BLT would be one of the testing resorts, but I only have seen that The Contemporary is, so I guess that doesn't apply to BLT? As of right now, I haven't heard anything, and with our trip only 16 days away, I guess we won't.

Any chance you're a AAA member? You can pick up the tickets at the local sales office and link them to the magic bands via MDE online. The magic bands were shipped super fast and can be ordered before you link tickets so that you can choose your colors.

That's what we're doing for our upcoming September trip. Hope it helps!

No, we're not, but that's really cool that you can do that!

This option was available when I was on MDE:

Click on link existing reservations and tickets
Select Ticket or Pass
Select Will Call order
Enter the Will Call confirmation number from your email (the number from under the bar code)

There is a note the page that says if you can't locate the number call 407-939-7523

Did they give you an option for Magic Bands when you did that? I've already linked my will call park tickets and MNSSHP tickets this way.

I'm too far out yet for the Manage Magic bands to swich to Personalize magic bands.

But since this is still in a test phase, regular ticket media will get you Fass Passes the "Old Fashioned Way" since not everyone will have Magic Bands.

MDE still says MagicBands are currently being tested by a limited number of pre-selected Guests.

From my understanding only certain guests have been chosen to participate in the test. When you sign into your DME account do you show a link on the right hand side that says customize your magic bands?
