Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

It looks like tens of thousands of people in WillyJ's area are w/o power, possibly up to two days. Hope WillyJ is okay.

That doesn't sound terribly good, hopefully they'll be able to restore services back to communities as soon as possible.

Willy, hope you and your family are doing OK.

Missing your posts, WillyJ! Hope they get the power back on soon. I can't find anything on the news about injuries from these storms, so I'm thinking you are okay. Right?!?! Let us hear from you as soon as you can, please.

No power and all of this heat is no picnic. I watched some the funeral today and cringed seeing all of the police officers in their dress clothes standing outside for so long.

WillyJ, I hope that you can check in soon!

Well, that was. . uh. . . not fun.

First of all, mom, dogs, and I am fine. The storm hit fast and furious Thursday at around 1:30pm and we got the power back on Friday night/Saturday morning some time.

The cable and internet was out until about 20 minutes ago.

It wasn't a tornado but we got hit with 72 mph winds and a monsoon of rain- no damage to the house, but lots of limbs snapped off the trees and one totally destroyed; split right down the middle. It was like a being in a 20 minute hurricane.

No one in the neighborhood was hurt as far as I know; about 4 houses down the street two big oak trees smashed through their roof and another took out the power/phone/cable lines. Lady across the street had her 6 prized pecan trees totally destroyed. All in all we came through pretty good.

No power and no TV and no internet made for a very unpleasant 3 days- the 'off the grid' people can kiss my. . .

Thanks to all who were concerned, all the ice melted but when the power came back on yesterday I was able to make more and at least have a proper drink while I stared at the wall.

I'm trying to get caught up on the news and watch the end of The British Open. We're drinking early today. . .

Yay! Welcome back! So glad you and yours are okay. What a crazy few days you've had.

Thanks so much! The storm was pretty scary but like I said, it only lasted 20 minutes or so and the worst more like 5.

The worst was Friday- it was hot, humid, and no ac or tv or net was very unpleasant and beyond boring. But it could have been worse.

I saw where you have family in the Tulsa area- hope they came through it okay.

Why did you take so long to check in here, Willy? 20 minutes? Sheeesh! :duck: :wave2:

I sent an email to your yahoo account, is that still a good one?

I know Dan; I was just having such a good time sweltering in the heat and staring at the wall it was hard to break away. ;)

(Yeah, the yahoo e-mail is good; just haven't had a chance to check it yet.)

The storm itself was here and gone so fast it was surreal- it was scary while it lasted, but the worst part was the power and cable and phone and internet being out. :crazy2:

The power actually came back on in the middle of the night Friday/morning Saturday. . . of course I had been absent mindedly switching on lights, tvs, etc. so when it came back on I was jolted out of a deep sleep when everything came on. :scared1:

Good times.

:D
