Ok, looks like most everyone has settled into using the correct AKV to describe the new resort. Animal Kingdom Villas.

Now, let's work on the Savanna View.

It's Savanna, not Savannah. (Savannah is both a nice river and a nice city in Georgia)

Savanna is a grassy plain with light tree growth.

P.S., please don't search my posts. I'm guilty of using Savannah, before I found out it's really Savanna.

:teacher:

OK, you can now go back to other threads that really have important stuff....:thumbsup2

American Heritage Dictionary - Cite This Source sa·van·na also sa·van·nah (sə-vān'ə) Pronunciation Key
n. A flat grassland of tropical or subtropical regions.

[Obsolete Spanish çavana, from Taino zabana.]

I've always used the "h" at the end.

It's also spelled with and "h" in the DVC Vacation Planner.

But if we are going to do a spelling thread lets work on the basics.;)

I guess Disney has decided it can be spelled both ways, because this is copy/pasted right off the points chart on the DVC website!

V - Value Accomodations, S - Standard view, SV - Savanna view, C - Killimanjaro Club Concierge

It looks like either spelling is technically correct, although 'savanna' seems to be preferred, and 'savannah' is usally labeled as 'alternate spelling' or 'variant spelling'.

'Savannah' view would seem more logical for a room category at HH than at AK.

HBC--you are my hero! Those are my biggest pet peeves! And yes, I know that this is just a message board and everyone is typing fast and doesn't proof, etc. but still...it kills me!

Long ago I used to spell it "savanna" but then I switched to "savannah" because that is what Disney uses. See the rate chart page from their AKL info page:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/resorts/resortRates?id=AnimalKingdomLodgeResortRatesListingPage

or their room description page: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wd...AnimalKingdomLodgeResortGuestRoomsListingPage

Thanks for this posting, as many times as I have stayed in a Savanna view room I always thought it was spelled the other way ( Savannah).

And let's not forget loose and lose: If you are loose with your points, you might lose some of them.

But their AKV promotional mailing uses savanna, not savannah, so they are not consistent, either.

According to Wikipedia either spelling is correct as well.

So if you're booking a room at AKL you need to ask for a Savannah view but if you're booking a villa at AKV you need to ask for a Savanna view. That's going to get very confusing! :rotfl:

Well obviously the Savannah with the "h" is popular because it is the spelling of choice here on the DIS, info page for Resorts

Savannah View (4)

Deluxe Savannah View(4)

Disney seems to use either, this is their description for the Safari ride:
Ride off into the savannah in an open-air safari vehicle for a thrilling animal-filled African expedition.

But they describe the guides in the resort, as Savanna guides.
