(Another) Kindle thread - have questions

I pre-ordered a Kindle Touch for my DD for Christmas., through Amazon It was supposed to arrive today - but didn't.

Nonetheless - even if it did arrive today - I'd still have the questions.

Question 1 - I'm hearing really nice things about the Kindle Fire. So - what if I would want to upgrade it - can I easily return the Kindle and purchase the other one?

Question 2 - I did not specifically purchase the extended warranty when I pre-ordered the Kindle. I wish they would have clearly stated "heh- if you preorder the extended warranty - the warranty time period will your pre-ordered item ships. So -now I am second guessing my decision to not get the insurance when I bought the kindle. (Would love to do squaretrade - but they do not do business in Wisconsin.) When I get the kindle - can I purchase the warranty on Amazon?

Did you ask Amazon? Their customer service can give you the answer.

I would call Amazon and ask them to exchange the Touch for the Fire and apply the difference to your CC or DC. They will be willing to do this, as long as the box for the Touch is unopened. While you are on the phone with them, also ask about the warranty. I did not get the warranty on my Kindle (2nd Gen.) but have had nothing but good experiences with the Amazon customer service reps.
