Another "Is This Ok?" question

Just thought I'd post my experience.

The only time I received a 3-hour pass was when we to the Contemporary to eat at Chef Mickey's. I've driven to the Poly to eat at Kona and the GF to eat at 1900 Park Faire, and was not given a pass or told that my time was limited on those occassions.

I don't recall what time of year it was or whether it was busy or not, but perhaps they do enforce these things more at busier times of the year.

It is assumed (yes, I know what happens when you assume) that if guests don't see a sidewalk, they shouldn't be walking. And yes, people have been stopped, by Disney CMs, while walking and told that Disney really doesn't want people walking around on the roadsides.

How can this be assumed? It is contrary to the rules in "real life". Florida Statute 316.310 (4) reads "Where sidewalks are not provided, any pedestrian walking along and upon a highway shall, when practicable, walk only on the shoulder on the left side of the roadway in relation to the pedestrian’s direction of travel, facing traffic which may approach from the opposite direction." I would argue that it is assumed that unless there is signage prohibiting pedestrian traffic (ie. freeways), then it is permitted.

There have been many posts from people stating that they have been stopped, while walking on roadsides at WDW, by CMs and told not to do it. I am not going to get into a 'he said, she said' argument here. WDW is private property. They can make the policies that they wish to make. If someone wishes to walk along unlit, unsidewalked, highly traveled roadways, they can. Not my issue. And, that has no bearing on this particular thread topic.

I know this is off the topic of the thread but if a post is incorrect it does need to be either corrected or noted that there are inaccuracies.

The Parks in WDW may be considered private property but the entire property, including the roadways are in a political subdivision known as the Reedy Creek Improvement District, with its own board of supervisors, planning board, emergency services, etc. Thus, it cannot enact a law or regulation which overrides state law, just like Kissimmee could not make a law in which vehicles drive on the left side of the road.

RCID could have its own police department but they would rather have a mutual aid agreement with the Orange County Sheriff and Florida Highway Patrol.

THis thread has now gone so far off topic that it is longer even close to the original topic. If someone wishes to start up a thread discussing walking around WDW property, they are free to do so.
We are now done with this thread.
