Another immigration protest thread - a comment on the radio

This morning, I was listening to the news radio, and they mentioned how there were so many different stories from all the protests yesterday. One comment that they broadcast kindof bothered me. Apparently there was one family, where the father was carrying around a broom. Since his child spoke better English, they interviewed the child (around 8 or 10 years old) to ask why he carried a broom. The child said something like, "People think we're all lazy. We're carrying the broom to show we're not. We do MOST of the work in this country." Any thoughts?

Any thoughts? Yeah carrying a broom is a lame thing to do and illegal immigrants do no do most of the work in this country. If anything resulted from yesterday's walk out it was that the economy will not come to a screeching halt without illegal immigrants.

I saw some percentages on the news--the main sectors that were affected were in the teen percentage range of ratio of workers. That is not most of the work.
