Another how much $$ question

I know I can't ask how much people tip and such, but I am trying to figure out about how much money I will need to set aside for tips. So, I was wondering if you could help me figure out how much the meals are going to cost and then I can figure out the rest for myself. We have 4 people, 2 adults and 2 kids ages 6 and 9, and we are on the DDP. Here are the restaurants that we have:

Nine Dragons
Hollywood and Vine
The Plaza
O'hana (breakfast)
Teppen Edo
Chef Mickeys
California Grill

I know we won't be adding anything to our meals like appetizers or alcoholic beverages -- we're just sticking with the basics. I know everyone has different tastes and orders differently, so I'm just looking for a ballpark estimate here.

I hope this is an allowable question. Your input is appreciated.

It's pretty time consuming, but what I did was go to allears . net and price out what I thought we'd order from each restaurant and get a total for each restaurant that way!

Allears has all the menu's with pricing and they are pretty up to date. Even if they don't have the exact entree you can get a median price for the entrees and desserts at each restaurant. Don't forget to figure in two drinks for breakfast or a smoothie 'upgrade' for some restaurants if you think you're family would take advantage of that option.

HTH!

If you send me a PM, I have an Excel spreadsheet from another DIS-er that you can enter the costs of your likely entrees/drinks/desserts and it will total up the bill, gratuity and even tell you if you're getting your money's worth with the DDP. I will forward it to you if you are interested. I've done it for several trips, including our upcoming one, to approximate our gratuity cost and it's very accurate. I use the menus at allearsnet.com to guess what I'll order and my husband and kids will order (and I am almost always right) and I put aside cash in envelopes to use for the tips.

I did something similar to the PP. I went to allears and instead of figuring out what each person would order I just added up the most expensive appetizer, entree, and dessert (we had deluxe plan). I also added in the price of a soft drink. I multiplied by 3 (3 of us) and figured out an 18% tip on that. I figured we'd be somewhat over because we didn't all order the most expensive things. But, I didn't budget specifically for alcoholic drinks, but knew we'd have some. I figured the extra tip money would go toward that.

I usually tip 20%....

And we always go on the DDP....but my 3 "teens" as of late...count as adults...so I'm not sure what the conversion would be since you have 2 kids and they are ....well....counted as kids....

We usually eat at "Ohana bfast, Teppan Edo dinner, and H&V dinner....I probably tipped about $20-25 at each...H&V on the lower side ...it being a Buffet....

Have a magical visit!
