First of all, I apologize for asking another hotel question.

My question is: Is it wise to save $200 and switch my reservation from FFI to Best Western Plus Stovalls????

The switch will save me $200 for a 3-night stay. However, I dont' know if it is worthwhile to pay $200 more to stay at FFI to be closer to the park and to have bigger room at FFI.

Can someone please give me some inputs??:thanks:

I like the proximity of FFI. I've only stayed at BWPPI, HOJO, and FFI for the outside resorts.

We stayed at Stovall's in Nov and LOVED it!! In fact, I am wrestling with staying there again and saving a mint, and being pregnant and walking in the heat. If I wasn't pregnant, I would 100% stay there again. The CS there is amazing, the rooms are clean, breakfast is decent (hey, FFI doesn't have breakfast), and the walk is really beautiful at night. It took us around 12 min to walk from Stovalls to GCH to DCA, IIRC. Honestly, switch over and do a nice dinner at BB :)

Also, Get Away Today has the cheapest prices for Stovalls right now - buy 2 nights, get one free. I think it is around 215 bucks for 3 nights?

What are your dates? People have been getting great rates (including me) for the FFI for $93/nt through Last minute Travel, but it's listed as an undercover hotel. But you can tell which one it is based on distance and pictures, and if you call them, they confirm the hotel name first. Happy to help look for you, if you give dates. Also, we always stay at the FFI, we are very happy with them, and it's got a great location, but anything further I think would just be the cutoff for 'too far' for us at the end of a long day, with young children.

FWIW, we have decided on Stovall's over FFI. Stovall's has free breakfast and the parking is only $8, so that's in addition to the $200 savings on the package deals compared to FFI. Yes, the walk is further, but not significantly. You go up a much quieter sidewalk in the middle of DLR, cut through the GC, or take the monorail the rest of the way.

Thank you all very much!!! :disrocks:

So I called Costco Travel to change my res from FFI to Stovalls. The CS on the phone said "Are you sure with the change?? FFI is a VERY nice hotel. I haven't heard much about Stovall's. And the walk is longer from Stovall's....blah blah blah....". But then she saw the price and she stopped.

Sometimes I wish I could do everything online instead of talking to a rep.:rolleyes2

Does anyone know if Stovall's is on last minute travel? The only one I know for sure is there is the FFI....I am also trying to figure out where to stay for 2 nights. Just wondering if the Best Western site is the best place for a rate at Stovalls.

Thanks!

I wouldn't stay at Stovall's again now that I've had the proximity of Carousel Inn. Pretty sure FFI is right there as well. My group does DL/DCA from open to close and we clocked the walk to Stovall's at 30-35 min which felt like a lifetime on our tired feet. I'll take 5-7 min any day. Also half an hour just seems like a chore.

Ok, how in the world did it take you 30-35 minutes to walk .8 of a mile? That is walking at less than 2mph - we did it with a stroller and 2 kids in 17 min and that was walking at a normal pace the long way, not through GCH.

I got Stovall's on Last Minute Travel last Christmas (of course, I knew I was getting them based on the "trick" I read here on the boards). I paid $69 a night for Dec. 20-26. It was an awesome deal at that time of year.

Also, I agree....the walk is short when cutting through DTD and the GC Lobby (15 min max...walking at a very slow pace).

It was last year, haven't seen it in a while.

We were there Thanksgiving weekend, got it through LMT *also knew that's what we were getting* for $65 per night!

OP ~ I'd stay at Stovall's again, the walk to the parks is lovely, lush and tropical, cutting through the Grand and Downtown D was fantastic.

If you are considering Stovall's try calling the hotel directly. I did and my room rate was much lower than the one at GetAwayToday.com. Also Stovall's will hold the room without a deposit. I put my room on hold July 19th, and it's on hold until Sept 19 which is a week before I arrive. That way you can lock in the price, but don't have to make a decision until a week before.

I'm sorry that after day 4 of spending 14-16 hours in the parks our feet and backs hurt and our pace (also the long way) is slower than normal. With the number of people on this forum concerned about footwear and being conditioned to be on their feet for long periods of time, I think you might find that the "normal" pace ends up being more than 20 minutes, despite what Google Maps says.

Regardless, my 5 minute walk to Carousel Inn (close to FFI) was much faster than my half hour walk or your 17 min walk to Stovall's.

Thanks

For those who do the short cut walk from Stovall's (ie through GFH and DTD), can you please clarify on where the entrance of GFH is ? From the hotel, do you cross the street and walk along West St/Disneyland Drive, and enter GFH off that street? When I went to DLR 3 years ago, I remember seeing an entrance to GFH from DTD. And saw another entrance on the way to the Mickey and Friends parking lot.

For those who love Carousel Inn, thank you for the suggestion. hope we will get to experence it at our next trip to DLR. :)
