I need your help please!

We just decided to take another trip to DL at the end of February. We have two kids, 5 (boy) and almost 3 (girl), and I'm pregnant.

We would love to stay somewhere close enough to walk, but also fun for the kids. Originally I had decided on Portofino's Kid Suite, but I'm 2nd guessing it after reading some poor reviews.

Last April, we stayed at PP, which was great, but we're hoping to save a little money this time around.

What are your suggestions for something close that would be fun for our kids?

Also, is it best to book hotel and DL tickets separately or through a package like Get Away Today?

Hi!

Congratulations on the news of a new baby! This is an exciting time for you and your family! :goodvibes

I think that our hotel is a great place for families to stay! Our Main Pool area features a heated pool, children's wading pool and spray deck- and we also have a Game Room on the Main Floor of our Tower Building!

If you have any questions, give me us a call at 714-776-6120 [ask for In-House Reservations], or you can even email me directly at Lorealle.Bishop@hojoanaheim.com!

Regards,
Lorealle

PS- If you book through a tour company, you can sometimes get a great deal! Just be sure to call the hotel that you've booked once you've made reservations to find out about upgrades. Usually, the tour companies book a 'Run of the House' room for you- but the hotel can recommend different room types that may accommodate your families' needs better!

I think you are wise to avoid Portofino- it wasn't terrible, but I'd never stay there again. I'd normally recommend the Residence Inn Maingate as an alternative, but it's at the outside edge of walkability (although about the same distance as Portofino), and with you being pregnant, I think you would probably be happier staying closer. I haven't stayed anywhere closer other than the Disney hotels, but HydroGuy's "Hotel Rule" thread has some great links to hotel walking distances, and you could research some of the closer ones.

We usually book through Get Away Today. And have always been very happy with their services. We have never stayed w/in walking distance to DLR because we are foodies and like to eat where the locals eat instead of the chains. So, we always rent a car. But I would highly recommend Get Away Today!

I personally think HOJO is too far to walk, especially being pregnant. I'm sure you will be tired and won't want to do any extra walking with already having 2 little ones with you. We stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites last month and had a great time. It was me, DH and 2 DD's. We got a parlor a suite for $79 a night. It was very clean and it was right across from the cross walk on Harbor. They also offer a free continental breakfast that included: milk, coffee, toast, pastries, 2 cereals and a fruit (either apple or orange). It's not much but it's free and enough to get you going! That is now our hotel of choice!

Thank you for all of the replies. After much time and consideration, we decided on the Fairfield Inn. We got a great deal with Get Away Today, as they were offering 4th night free. HoJo was a close second choice, but they were not offering a 4th night free, so the Fairfield was actually a bit less expensive. Hopefully we made a good choice, especially for proximity. I'm just so darned excited about going back soon! :goodvibes

I'm so glad you were able to make a decision on a hotel! That's always the hardest, most stressful part of trip planning. Now you can get down to the fun stuff!

Have a great trip!
