Another horrible Comcast experience

I was so sickly sweet to the Comcast lady this morning just because of all the nightmare stories I've heard here and in the press. I felt sorry for the poor girl, and she did help. At the end of the call, she tried to get my husband on the phone because he's the account holder (maybe she was supposed to sell something), but he wasn't around.

For me it is never an issue with their employees not being nice. They are usually polite and pleasant but they are just the single most incompetent group of people I have ever had to deal with. My head spins at the number of different things they have told me regarding getting their services to work. I wonder if they are free to make up the stories they tell or if they are reading an unending flow chart of different responses. I am almost certain they are pulling them out of thin air.

I live in a neighborhood that has very strict covenants and does not allow dishes. I know that covenants can be challenged but I feel like I chose to live here knowing the restrictions so I should respect them.

Not allowing dishes is against FCC regulations. All HOA's have to make some type of accommodation for small dishes. I would head over to the FCC web site and look around for the regs.

ps
The way to get great Comcast customer service is to hope your neighborhood has Verizon FIOS as well. Once FIOS went in Comcast was excellent. We still switched, for 2 years at less than half the cost of Comcast.

My area is apparently weird in that we have multiple options for cable provides, along, of course, with DirecTV and Dish.

I am hoping against all hope that something comes in to compete with them. Nashville is one of a small group of cities on the list for Google Fiber and AT&T just announced that they are bringing a new high speed fiber network to Nashville. I just have to hope one of these makes its way to our neighborhood. For some reason Uverse skipped our neighborhood. I think it had something to do with the lines being fiber and not compatible with Uverse.

Don't hate me but...

I've had nothing but good experiences with Comcast customer service! :duck:

Maybe it's because we do have some competition in our area (WOW as well as the dish services) but the hold times tend to be reasonable, and the customer service reps seem to know what they're doing. I only have them for internet though, we don't have cable/dish or a home phone. Maybe their cable tv division is the problem?

Hate Comcast so much. My family and I were always losing our internet when we had them. Can't ever remember how many times Comcast came out to fix it. Finally ditched them after what happened two years ago around this time. My cable box in my room had froze for some reason. Couldn't change the channel or shut the television off with the remote and on the box. Called Comcast to figure out what was going on with my box. The person on the phone fixed the box. And had also recommended a tech come out and take a look at the box.

That was Thursday night. On Friday Comcast called the house. My dad picked up the phone. The person on the other end of the phone was calling to cancel the appointment on that Saturday. Cause the issue had been solved the night before and no one needed to came out to the house. Both my dad and I told the person that it when we talked to that person on Thursday night it was important someone came out. Finally the person got it after arguing for five minutes to send someone out. The techs came out that Saturday and we find out it is the box outside that caused the problem.

Next week a rep from Verizon Fios knocked on our door. And we signed up that night with Fios. Had it installed that next week and my mother and I had no problem returning the boxes to Comcast. Have not looked back at all. Internet and cable doesn't go out that much anymore. Only time it does is if Verizon is updating its system. Plus we get a lot more channels with Fios than we did with Comcast. I can watch the Boomerang which has all the old Hanna Barbera shows.
