Hello everyone,

This is my trip report, a little late but as they say ‘better late then never’!

I have my holiday video on as I type this to get me in the real Disney mood, I also have an A5 book which is almost full as I did that many notes! So I hope you are ready for a detailed trippie! (I will be posting photos but still need to upload them, should be on over the weekend).

Day 0 - The night before…

It’s 10:00pm and we are very excited as we are going to WDW in the morning. We have had a bath and are again checking our luggage and ensuring we have our tickets etc. We each have a black suitcase, red case and a mini Disney one for hand luggage. I start to panic that the black cases won’t stand out enough compared to everyone else’s so start top paint with pick nail varnish onto the handles to make them stand out more. DH starts to count the money again; we are both very stressed but also very excited! We have to get up at 3:00am so we are likely to get very little sleep. After again checking everything we decide its best we get some sleep and go to bed.

Day 1 – travel day 5/09/2007

We both woke at 2:35am even though we hadn’t slept through the night with sheer exctiement! I left DH in bed as he was still sleepy and I was getting up earlier so that I could straighten my hair (it would be the only day that it was straight, as the humidity will soon see to that…). Even though I was very excited my eyes stung, as I was that exhausted, we had finally got to bed at 12pm. Once I was downstairs I flicked the TV on and found a repeat of the ‘grumpy women’; I watched this as I had a glass of orange juice and a cup of tea. I straighten my hair, as I finished I heard footsteps upstairs, which meant DH was finally awake. He came down stairs looking shattered but was greeted by an over excited wife! He managed a glass of orange juice and then went back upstairs to get ready. I turned my straightners off so that they would cool down in time so I could pack them (never again, a complete waste of time, I have to accept in Disney my hair is curly or in a ponytail). I packed the odd last thing, which we had laid on top of the suitcases last night but stuff we still needed in the morning. I quickly got changed into my Mickey Mouse top, which I had bought months ago but had saved for this occasion. I wore knee length baggy jeans and had a light jacket for the plane. Once dressed we said out goodbyes to our house bunnies who looked excited as they thought it was time to come out and play, DH hates leaving them and kept walking in to see them. As he said his millionth goodbye to them I put the luggage tags and straps on and took photos of us with our luggage (yes I am one of those that takes photos of everything, poor Mark can’t eat a single meal without me having a photo of the meal and then a photo of him with the meal and then his first bite…I know I’m a complete nightmare!).

My mum and her husband came to pick us up at 4:00am, we packed the suitcases in the car and Mark disappeared back into the house. After a few moments I went to go and find him and he was stood in saying goodbyes to the bunnies again! I gently moved him away and assured him that they’d be ok as their uncle would look after them fine, we locked up, jumped in the car and then we were off! :woohoo:

Mum has a tom-tom which kept us amused for the journey as every time it told my mum where to go they’d get all excited and tell us how clever it was – bless. The journey was quick enough, as we approached Manchester there was severe fog so mum drove really slowly, it then started to rain – oh the joys of British weather

Once at Manchester airport we were diverted to the drop off point as a result of the recent attacks on UK airports, dropping off outside the airport was no longer allowed. Once we got parked up DH and mum’s husband went of to get luggage trolleys whilst I said my final goodbyes to my mum and caught up on some girlie gossip. Once the guys came back with the trolleys we loaded them and gave lots of hugs to the parents and headed off. We came in a different way to which we were used to and had to get a lift to take us to the departure level. The lift opened and the virgin check in was opposite, it only took us 5 minutes to check in, the lady was very kind and said she could tell we were excited! We went to WH Smith and got some magazines, whilst in the queue DH saw some puzzle books he wanted so we got those too. After we got them we realised it was 3 for 2 so I went back and got the free book.

Once done we headed to security, on the way they were giving out clear bags for liquid items, we took one for our lipbalm. Once at security I walked through with no problems, however poor DH had to have a body search and got told off for leaning on the machine whilst he took his shoes off. I was giggling as he went redder and redder. We had a good laugh about it and prefer that they are strict rather then be too lax at security. We then headed over the airport lounge, which we do every time as we can very rarely stomach breakfast when we first wake up for holidays.

Once we get in Mark gets 3 bread rolls, OJ, and a mini Stella Artois. I raise my eyebrows but let it go, as he is a nervous flyer. And surprisingly most people in the lounge had an alcoholic beverage. Not me though I just had 1 bread roll with jam, a lemon and cranberry muffin, some crunch nut cornflakes and a cuppa, I also got 2 cakes and biscuits which we didn’t eat but popped them in our hand luggage for later :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

After being in the lounge for 2 ½ hours we headed off to boarding. Our tickets didn’t specify our gate number so we went for the hunt for which gate we needed. We aimed to get there for 9:10am so were in good time, however by 9:30am we still couldn’t find where we were meant to be. No one seemed to know whom we asked. I started to panic and DH instantly saw the potential for me to have a paddy and became the hero and found out all the details and found the right gate, After we arrived we took a sneaky pic of the plane and then we were boarded within 10 minutes.

As we boarded we got pulled and had out luggage checked I felt embarrassed as I had my smuggled biscuits and cakes. We were patted down though the staff were friendly and made a joke of DH manly ‘finding Nemo’ bag…Once on the plane it came apparent that Obi was right as he had said that they’d be about 100 seats left on the flight, it was the quietest I had seen a virgin flight. A lot of people had the whole middle rows to themselves and they slept across the seats. We were seated next to a window and no one sat next to us so that was nice as we could put all our bits during the flight there :)

I hate taking off and I held my DH hand all the way, he had lots of marks from where I squeezed so hard. After about 15 minutes the seatbelt off sign came on. Once up I relax totally. The movies start quickly and some drinks were brought round, we watched ‘shooter’, after our dinner was brought round in which we both chose meatballs with rice. It was quite nice for aeroplane food; Mark didn’t eat his meal but had my crackers and bread to fill up. Mark kept pressing buttons on his remote and called the airhostess over by mistake, he was very embarrassed and kept his distance from the buttons for the rest of the flight. We had a little turbulence during the whole flight, but luckily nothing too severe. A couple had their engagement announced in which everyone clapped and cheered. I could see the panic on my DH face as it was our 2yr anniversary exactly today since we got married at WDW as I know he hates public scenes like that, drats! I love things like that. Maybe next time…

We then watched ‘blades of glory’ and then ‘breach’, in between them we we had to fill in the waiver forms, I hate doing these and made a mistake so had to get another form. We were then brought sandwiches, cookies and tea. The announcements were made that we were getting ready for landing so we got our belongings together and waited patiently for the landing.

The landing was smooth, though it was raining very heavy in Orlando. Once off the plane we went straight to immigration, which I always find scary. Some people were sent away as we waited so we started to panic more, when it was our time the man looked very stern and scary, he asked us what brought us to Orlando, we chorused ‘Walt Disney World’, I think he almost smiled! He asked the usual questions and then asked what was out relationship. GULP! We are married but I was still using my passport with my maiden name and I was worried, despite reassurance form the Dis that it would be a problem, but he didn’t seem to notice and we went through OK :woohoo:

Next it was luggage claim, ours was last, we concluded it was because we checked in so early? We did the usual checks then headed to the monorail. Once off we headed to baggage claim. It seemed a lot easier checking in compared to our last holiday. We met with our rep that showed us where our limo driver was. It was still raining so he pulled up and took our luggage as we started to chill out. Mark had some chilled water as I sent a text to my mum to let her know we were safe and to let everyone else know we had arrived ok. I then took some photos and started to look for the WDW signs, that’s always the most exciting thing. Once at the resort we got our bags and tipped the driver, he was really happy with it which was nice as sometimes people just expect tips even though the service is not that good. We went to check in as a CM took our luggage. I love ASMo and will miss it this year as we are staying PO. We checked in within 5 minutes. As we checked in the CM was amazed how excited we were and kept muttering ‘I can’t believe you love Dalmatians so much’. She handed us some anniversary badges, I hadn’t mentioned that it was our anniversary but on the fax I sent to the hotel a few days previously I had mentioned this as I had requested the same room as we had when we got married. Once finished she gave us a map and wrote our room number on…YIPPY it was OUR room, the CM laughed and said ‘There no need to tell you the way, have a good vacation’. I was ecstatic and I practically ran to our room. Seeing the spotted dogs I started to feel giddy, once at our room we raced in and basked in the anticipation and excitement whilst running round the room. There was a Mickey Mouse towel design set up on our bed. Our luggage arrived; we unpacked and agreed it felt like we’d never been away. Just turning on the TV and seeing the familiar Disney adverts, the Disney shampoo and the star shower curtain get me all emotional, we are home!

We decided to go to the canteen and got our refillable mugs – bargain! I went to the knife and forks section to see if my jam was still here and it was, I love smuckers jam. I showed DH who was happy for me as I had talked about this non-stop since we left last time. We got some fries and BBQ lays, I ate half then and saved the rest for later (it’s the family bag, not a little bag), I eat little and often…some say too often!!! After a little break we explored the resort shop and spotted a few things, which we wanted but thought we’d wait until we’d been to DTD before we bought anything. Back to the room we changed into something cooler and decided to go to DTD. The bus turned up as we arrived so that was some good luck. Once at DTD we both got really excited, just being back on the WDW buses makes it all feel so real. We got a Pal Mickey after looking in the World of Disney for ½ hour. We then got a hotdog for DH and I had frozen lemonade. My hair stayed ok, I think this was because it was evening and not as humid, so I was tricked into thinking that my hair would be straight for the holiday…We got some post cards from the scrapbook shop and headed back as we were stating to feel sleepy. Once back to the resort we filled our mugs up whilst I made notes. Even though we were tired we were excited about our first full day in the Parks and struggled to sleep :cloud9:

I can’t believe how extensive my notes are I haven’t adlibbed anything. I hope your ready for our next instalment!!! :goodvibes

I love reading reports but love even more seeing pics, please post some for us and can I ask the dates you were there. A lot of people miss putting the dates of their trips and I think that's important for people planning trips at the same time to give an idea of weather/crowds etc.

Great start, can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

I know exactly how you feel. DH and I are just like kids again when we know we are going back.
