DH and I just got back Halloween night from WDW. We arrived on Sunday, Oct. 26 at BWV about 4:45 pm. We were assigned studio #1080 which overlooks Luna Park's hot tub and slide. We thought the slide rehab might be a problem but it wasn't as they were just putting the finishing touches on the slide. Room location was great as far as access to the main pool.
Some thoughts about differences between BCV and BWV studio.
1. Bathroom is bigger at BCV and has an extra towel rack that we missed at BWV.
2. At BCV the table and chairs are across from the sofa and there is a coffee table in front of the sofa. At BWV, the table and chairs are across from the bed and there wasn't a coffee table in front of the sofa. We liked the BCV room layout better.
3. We liked the drawer and cabinet space under the bathroom vanity at BWV.
4. We noticed more hallway noise at BWV than we did at BCV.
Weather was wonderful--sunny, highs in mid 80s and lows in upper 60s except for Tuesday that was cloudy with a few showers but still warm.
Here is what we did and where we ate:
Sunday--Dinner at Cape May Cafe. Ate the prime rib and bbq ribs. Great salads and desserts. B+
Monday--we spent the day at Stormalong Bay--fabulous as always. Breakfast at Yacht Club Galley--delicious blueberry pancakes and country potatoes. A- Dinner at Boma's--prime rib was good as were the desserts, especially the coconut mango tarts and zebra domes. We missed the flank steak which is only served on Tues. and Fridays. A-
Tuesday--we went to EMH at MGM and was the first group in ToT when it broke down. We were stuck in the basement until 8:25 and they said we could leave. Went to RnR and there was a 30 minute wait so we left to go to Epcot as those were the only two rides we wanted to do at MGM. Took the boat and got to Epcot by 9:05 and went straight to TT to get a fast pass and then to MS. Rode MS with no wait. DH, who is very claustrophobic, didn't have a problem with this ride. I had ridden it this summer and told him that there was air blowing right in your face at all times and with the screen in front it seems larger so he gave it a try. He felt a little queasy on it and afterwards was a little queasy and had a headache for an hour or so. He was glad he did it but doesn't want to do it again. DH thought TT seemed faster than the last time he rode it. We tried several things at F&W Festival but our favorites were pancakes with sauerkraut and sour cream, grapefruit cake, jaegerschnitzel, chorizo and chicken quesadilla, lobster and corn chowder, and the baked zita from Italy. Finished up the day at MK to see Wishes which was delayed a little because of some sprinkles of rain. It was AWESOME!!!! My favorite fireworks show ever!!!!! For dinner we had cheeseburgers and fries at Pecos Bill. Love those grilled onions and mushrooms on the topping bar! B+
Wednesday--Breakfast at Boardwalk Bakery. DH had the breakfast burrito and I had a guana? and cheese danish. A+ We usually make at least one trip to the BB for breakfast even when we stay at BCV. Spent the day at Luna Park Pool. Very convenient to our room and not too crowded. Slide reopens tomorrow. Lunch at ESPN Club which I feel is one of the best values of all WDW restaurants. DH and I both had the pulled pork sandwich. A+ Dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express which was pretty good. We shared a roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Only have mango iced tea though. B Also had a cinnamon pretzel at Wetzel's Pretzels before heading to PI. DH and enjoyed both the Comedy Warehouse and Adventurer's Club. PI was not nearly as crowded as it was in June.
Thursday--We ate breakfast at Cape May Cafe and was very disappointed in the quality and variety of foods on the buffet. They didn't have my DH's favorite roast beef hash nor the country potatoes--just frozen hash brown patties. Although this has been a regular meal for us for many years, I don't think we'll be going back for awhile. C- We spent the day at BWV's quiet pool as Luna Park was super crowded by 10:30 a.m. since the slide had been reopened. We rented noodles at the Community Bldg. and enjoyed floating around in the water. Went to MNSSHP at 4:15 and got in without any problems just using our party tickets. This was a first for us and it was a blast! We thought it would be super crowded because it was sold out but we walked on almost all of the rides with just a 5-10 minute wait on others. We even rode Dumbo, which we haven't rode for several years since our children were small, and there wasn't a wait!!!! We hadn't planned on doing any of the trick-or-treating for candy but the lines were usually really short. If they weren't short, we skipped them and still got plenty of candy to bring home to our teenage "kids." Fireworks were neat but nothing can compare to Wishes. We really enjoyed the parade and headless horseman though. We stayed until midnight and enjoyed a cinnamon roll at the Main Street Bakery with coffee and hot chocolate at a table off Main Street in a little side alley. We always enjoy watching everyone leave. No problems at the bus stop as we only waited a minute or two.
Friday--We ate at BW Bakery again. We both had our favorites again. I just love eating breakfast by the water. Then took one last walk around Crescent Lake before heading to the airport.
Overall, we had a great time. Bus service was fine to and from MK and DD. BWV were nice but we did miss our home resort, BCV. Weather was better than we expected. I thought it would be a little cooler than it was especially at night. Didn't wear any of the sweatshirts or jeans I had packed. Any questions, just ask!
Until next time . . .
