Well, thanks to everyone's help, I have now ruled out the Anabella and the Park Place Inn. I still am considering the Candy Cane Inn and my latest to consider is the Tropicana. Tropicana is cheaper and is right across the street (next to Park Place inn). Has anyone had any bad experiences or good with the Tropicana. I know we will not be at the room that much, but don't want a terrible experience.

Thanks again,

Pam

I was considering the Tropicana but read that their lobby is being renovated through July. They will be operating the lobby out of a trailer until then. I'm not sure how much this will effect anything else in the hotel but I decided not to take the chance. You could always call them and ask I suppose but I was too lazy :o

Whoops. Just saw on your other thread that you will be there in August. I guess in that case if the renovations are finished you might want to consider it. I've heard nice things about it in the past.

Candy Cane is great! We've stayed there several times and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. It's right next door to DL (on the DCA side), about a 10-15 minute walk to the park entrance, and you don't even have to cross the street! They also offer a fantastic shuttle service.

Let me know if you have any specific questions!

I stay at the Disneyland Resort about once every month and a half. Please trust me on this one... The Tropicana isn't the cleanest. I would highly suggest staying at The Desert Inn & Suites, The Del Sol Inn (formerly The Best Inn), The Carousel Inn or the Fairfield Inn. Feel free to use my Disneyland LinkMap to link you to all the closest lodging choices to the Disneyland Resort.
Here's a hint: When I book, I ask for the same discount they give to AAA members because I'm a State employee. Nobody has EVER asked for Goverment ID.

If you need any more help, drop me a line.

Stay at a hotel within walking distance of the Disneyland Resort
Waiting around for overcrowded (and often late) shuttle buses can be really frustrating. when you stay across the street, you can easily run over to your room and do lunch, have a swim or do a nap, you don't have to worry about catching the last shuttle back to the hotel either, allowing you to do Downtown Disney at your leisure.

Just a thought.

Oh my goodness, DisneylandGuy. What great maps! Thanks.:D They really help me get my bearings in unfamiliar territory.

I have stayed at the Desert Inn and Suites many times and I would highly recommend staying there. Good-sized, clean rooms and very close to the Disneyland entrance as well as several restaurants.

We've stayed at the Annabella, and we liked it. The rooms were very clean and big. Our room had another room with a door and a daybed in it that my son loved. We didn't eat at the restaurant but have heard it's not that great.

We didn't have to ever wait for a long period of time catching a shuttle to DL coming back was a different story though.
