We are staying at Pop Century for 10 nights in September.
I upgraded us to premium dining.

We wont want to find restaurants to eat in for 3 meals a day. The one im guessing we will do in our room is breakfast.

Anyway I was thinking of dropping down to the middle meal plan.

Do you think the premium is value based on actually having it.
Do you think I should drop down?

But most importantly does anyone know what the price difference would of been? Trying to work out how much it will save me. I would of got quick dining free. So I guess does anyone know how much it costs to upgrade to the middle plan vs how much for the premium plan.?

I hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance

Oh I was thinking especially because two of the days we have free dining for we will not be using our tokens or passes for free dining because we will be at universal and universal adventure.

My kids are 12, 8,5 and 3 so I dont k ow how big kids meals are but they may be able to share.

Just adding more info

I don't know the price difference.

We had the premium plan for our 2010 visit and it was too much food for us. I think unless you plan on some meals that call for two TS credits (like Cinderella's Royal Table), it tends to be a lot of food for most people.

This time we have free dining and are staying at a moderate so we have the plan that gives us one TS, one QS and one snack credit per person per day. We will see how that goes. I'm guessing we will end up paying OOP for a few snacks or maybe a quick service breakfast or two, but that's okay with me.

The dining plan sub forum likely has some posts that would be relevant to these questions. Maybe take a look there?

The 12 year old is an adult for disney so on the adult plan. I can't comment on the size of the kids meals as ds, age 7 on our last trip, has food allergies and so our menu choices were all about the food allergies and I don't think he was ever able to eat anything off a kids menu.

We just switched our four year old to an adult for disney because we have free dining and so we only had to pay $20 extra buying adult park tickets to get her on the adult dining plan. I figured avoiding the melt down over not getting to order what her brother had made $20 the best disney bargain ever. I found that idea in one of the stickies in the dining plan sub forum.

Thank you.

I found the price difference. Its an extra $1700 over our entire stay to get one extra meal and a snack per day per person. But as I said on some of the days we will be out shopping or at other parks.

Now just to find the right time difference to ring and change it

We are a family of 4 (all the kids are considered adults now 12/13) and regular dining plan - 1 QS, 1 TS, 1 snack has always been plenty of food.... too much in fact. We had 6 counter service & I think 17 snack credits at the end of our trip that we used on our last day to buy "traveling" food to bring on our ride home. Plenty of Mickey Rice Krispie treats to go around too :rotfl: Some of the quick service meals were splitable so they went further than expected ::yes::

we had the basic dining plan, we used the snack credit for breakfast most days, qs for lunch and ts for dinner. We did pay out of pocket a few times, this was because we had 3 meals that were 2 credit meals (Le Cellier, Cinderella's table, California Grill; we payed California Grill out of pocket and I believe one other ts)

I looked at upgrading to deluxe before our trip and it wouldn't have made sense. I actually sat down on a site with menus and made a 'mock' meal plan for our trip and priced out each meal/day. Because the deluxe has SO MANY table service you are paying ON TOP of what you pay to upgrade because table service = tips. Tips are not included on the dining plan. Honestly the quick service meals were all very yummy. I really, really wish Disney would offer a 1 Snack, 2 Counter, 1 Table/day meal plan. Unless that happens, the basic plan will be our go-to.

We usually do the basic dining plan, but upgraded to deluxe once. We always do fine on the basic plan, but loved our 1 week on deluxe because it enabled us to have a breakfast or early lunch reservation, then do a signature dining reservation for our evening meal. We were able to hit almost all of the signatures in that one week so it was a lot of fun for us...although we're foodies and didn't have any kids with us at the time.

I prefer the middle dining plan. We like 1 table meal and 1 counter meal per day. Plus you get 1 snack. We often use our 1 snack for a muffin or something from the food court to eat while we wait for the bus.

I also bring granola bars in case we need a snack in the parks but we usually have WAY too much food with just the 1TS and 1QS per day :thumbsup2

Plus, it takes SO much time out of your day.... do you want to spend your vacation eating? Some people do, we prefer not to do more than one sit down, per day.

Im the same id rather do pnly one sit down a day. Less planning that way andwe will probably eat more of the food.

Thanks Alot everyone.
