This has become one of our favorite spots these days. I can remember the old menus they had there--with things like fried Gator tail, and seafood nachos. Now the menu has changed considerably and the food is right up there with the other fine WDW hotel restaurants.
Our dinner this trip was on Sunday evening, and PS were for 6:00 PM. We arrived about 10 minutes early and were the first guests to show up. By the time 6:00 rolled around there were about 20 people waiting to get in, and by the time we left, the place was packed solid. It also must have been a special childrens nite or something--at least it seemed that way. There were children everywhere!! Our table overlooking the lagoon was sandwiched in between 2 tables of about 12 people each, most of whom seemed to be kids. The noise level was quite high that nite!!
In any case, our server appeared promptly and took our drink orders. Mrs. U went--as usual--with the suggested menu wine pairings. Since there are no beers listed on the menu, I had to listen to the server recite the 10-12 offerings they have (hoping of course that he didn't forget any of them!) and then decided on Dixie Blackened Vodoo.
Narcoossee's menu usually has a "special" Chef's catch section, and this time we ordered exclusively from that. For an appetizer, we decided to split theGolden Fried Rock Shrimp, with key West Pineapple/pepper Slaw and Spicy Key Lime Mustard. I was hesitant about ordering this--last time we had rock shrimp, they were about the size of a large cashew. But these were suprisingly large--about 8 or 9 to the plate and very tasty. They disappeared fast, along with that slaw!!
For my entree, I opted for Pan-Roasted Wahoo w/roasted garlic and Spring Onion Risotto. Mrs U had the Grilled swordfish with oven-roasted vegetables. Both fish were supurb-and cooked just right. Both are meaty "steak" fish and it's quite easy to overcook and dry them out. But not so in this case.
For dessert, I decided on the house special Key Lime Creme Brulee, while Mrs. U went for the Strawbwerry Shortcake w/ Fresh Strawberrys. Both were quite good.
Service was excellent thru -out and we left Narcoossee's quite satisfied with our meal.
