(Another) Ebay Vent - from a buyer

I have heard of people doing this with ebooks as part of one of those get-rich-quick programs. They burn a ton of pirated ebooks onto one disk and sell them on ebay. I wonder if this may be a similar scheme.

You can always provide information to tips@disneyantipiracy.com who will investigate. They will acknowledge receipt of your report but you will never hear from them again. Also they will not let the person they are investigating know the source of their information.

And then the wrath of The Walt Disney Company Legal Department will be on them! (And Disney has lots of lawyers and is extremely protective of its intellectual property.)

Ok, the seller refunded me the $$ with no questions asked; he did say that I could send them back, and he'd even send me a SASE, but I told him that I'm not sending something counterfeit through the mail as it's illegal. No response to that.

I really want to turn this person in, but my concern is that they may figure out who reported it since I did make it a point to call him out. My only problem with that is that we live less than 45 minutes away from this seller and I've worked in the legal industry for a while (including at a local court house) and have a bachelors degree in the legal industry (starting law school soon), so I know how those horror stories can go. And, literally, this person is making thousands off of this ebay store he has, so I'm sure he wouldn't just shrug and take it lightly.

Opinions, anyone?

I'm glad your seller refunded you. Mine did too, but I had to send the movies back. After I returned them, he sent an email telling me he'd had a 2nd complaint and was now pulling all auctions and apologized for the inconvenience. He tells me that he bought his merchandise as part of a "truckload sale" from a US seller and had no reason to believe they were counterfeit. I think he was just trying to cover his butt because I called him out.

I didn't take it any further because I was glad to get my $$ back (as pathetic as that sounds as I'm typing it). I used to buy on eBay way, way back and had a few disputes that were decided for the seller, so I'm probably approaching it from a different angle than you are.
