Another dumb question from me: How does PhotoPass work at DLP?

I'm aware of how MemoryMaker works, as I purchased that service on my last WDW trip. It was attached to my package and as photos were taken I just scanned my MagicBand and went on my way. At the end of the trip I was able to download all the photos as a batch and keep them for myself.

How does this work at DLP? I see PhotoPass listed on the website for a $69 price for a week, but is this something I buy before the trip and activate or do I purchase it after the fact? Since there's no package and I'll likely be buying my tickets through a third party how do I tie the Photopass purchase to my tickets?

Doing my best to inform myself now rather than later.

DLP? Are you asking about Paris?

If you're talking about Anaheim they have little Photo pass cards they'll give anyone for free, or you can use an app. I have not used the app as it's new. You can then upload the pictures to your account and choose to pay to download them from one day or from the whole week. There is a master thread on Disneyland Photo Pass.

where is the master thread? I'm curious too....

the app make the whole experience easy. you just log into your Disney profile, hit your icon. photo pass and there is a bar code that the photographer scans, and it links them to your profile. you can view them, and buy the pass from the app. the day pass is around 40 dollars, and is good for one days worth of photos. the other is 69 dollars and is good for a weeks worth of photos. if you like the attraction pictures, you just have to enter the code it gives you at the booth into the app and it will link those as well. the only issue I ran into was at some points of the day it was to bright for the scanner to grab the bar code from my phone, but they gave me a card, and I scanned that from the app and linked the photos that way.

There's a very long thread but here are the basics if you don't want to read through 50 pages of posts.

Basically you purchase PhotoPass Plus online, either before, during or up to 45 days after your trip for $69 for a week.

When you arrive at the park, the first Disney photographer you ask to take your photo will give you a card. If you've already purchased the PhotoPass Plus online, you can have them scan the code on the app on your phone instead. You use that card or the phone for the remainder of your trip. At this point it's not much different from your band at DW. When on a ride that has photos, you write down the number of your photo when you see it. You can then ask the photo attendant at that ride to add it to your card. Or if you have the app on your phone, you can add it yourself. You continue giving your card or your phone to photographers every time. When you're done with your trip, you connect the code on your card to the program online (not necessary if you've used your app the whole time), then you download your photos. You can connect more than one card to a PhotoPass Plus account, so if you split up you can get a second card.

Upgrades have to be purchased at the park. I don't recall where they are since I'm not purchasing them. :)

Thanks for that link! I am wondering, how would we do this with a family group, but 3 separate families.... in other words we're all there together but on our own schedules a lot of the time....

Each family would just have their own photopass card. Then you would download all the cards to one person's app and buy the photopass.

"DLP" is "Disneyland Park".

yep that is how we plan on doing it. we as well are going to have 3 families there. and figured just download them on to one profile and split the photo pass+ cost.

To add ride photos you need to enter the number in the app manually. They no longer scan cards to add ride photos. You can add them before you buy the day or the week, they just have a watermark until you pay for them.

Thanks for clarifying, SMD! I must have misunderstood what the CM on the phone told me.

OK, I'm confused.

So, we are a family of 8, but we will go on our separate ways when we get to the parks. I was planning on buying the PhotoPass before our trip. Witch each photo you take inside the parks they give you a card, right? That card has a code. We keep all the cards they give us. When we get home we enter our PhotoPass code and then write down each code of each card. And we download them all for free. Is that correct?

You just enter the codes from the cards on the site. I'd take pictures of the backs of the cards on your phones in case you loose the too. I'd take a card per group that will spit off and reuse them to minimize the number of cards. You'll also want to write down all your ride photo numbers to claim them too.

You CAN grab a card with each photo, but that would mean ending up with a lot of cards that you have to manually add. The cards are reusable, so you just grab one card for each group that's likely to be together. And use that card each time you get a photo taken. Then you can link all the cards together on one account and download the lot. You can also use the code in the phone app if you like.

For example, in our trip last year, I had a premier pass which had a QR code printed on it. My wife got an additional photopass card from the first photographer we saw. Her ex-colleague who was at the park at the same time as us also got a card. At the end of the trip, I added all the codes to my account and downloaded all the photos we had taken while we were there.
