I know there is not a formal night on the 4 day cruises. What do ladies wear on the night you dine at Triton's? Would a very dressy pantsuit work or do I need a Sunday dress? I plan for my 2 sons to wear dress shirts and ties (DS-age 8 does not like to wear ties on Sunday morning to church-more of a shirt and sweater vest type of guy) since they do not have sport coats. Or would a nice dressy sweater vest work for them? Thanks for all your help! By the way my other DS will be 5 when we sail and likes to be like big brother.

I do not the right answer, but I will tell you what we experienced. I wore a top and skirt, but many women wore pants suits. I think your sons would be appropriate in sweater vests, I don't remember seeing young boys in ties.

On both of our last two 4 night cruises, there were almost no young boys in ties at dinner. My boys wore khakis and polot shirts and were dressed perfectly. There were actually some children in Triton's and adults as well, who were dressed very, very, casually. Polo shirts or their sweater vests would be great for the night. Your nice pants suit will be perfect too!

Thanks for the info. You will make DS (8) very happy that he does not have to wear a tie. It will be easier for packing as well. Did you see many young boys in dress shorts at dinner on nights you were not at Triton's? I had hoped to place my DS (5) in nice shorts and a polo type shirt for dinner and let DS (8) wear pants and a polo type shirt. If he (DS-8) could get away with shorts (nice ones), a shirt, and sandals, he would be very happy. Also, if your dining assignments have you going to Triton's twice, should you take 2 nicer outfits just incase you go there twice? I would rather be safe and be prepared incase we were assigned there 2 nights. Thanks again.

I plan on having DS9 wear khakis and a polo shirt for all dinner nights, even Tritons.
He does not own a dress shirt, but he has some very nice polo's that I think would be appropriate.

I'd also like to know about the dressy shorts for boys.
I thought shorts were not permitted in any of the dining rooms for dinner.

I think that rule is more intended for older kids and adults. I don't think anyone would flip out if a 5 yr old had on dress shorts with a nice polo shirt.

On our first 4 night cruise, I brought dressier clothes for my boys and they got upset when they noticed that there were plenty of kids their age in dress shorts and polo shirts at dinner. On our 2nd 4 night this past January, I brought pants for the night in Triton's and dress shorts and nice polo shirts or dress shirts for the other restaurants and they were dressed like most of the other boys we saw. I didn't let them wear sandals to dinner though, they had to wear boat shoes. I actually saw quite a few men in shorts at dinner, we even saw a few in Triton's! I simply packed two different polo shirts for my husband to wear with his dress pants and his blazer for Triton's and that was fine since we go back and get our shorts on right after dinner. My husband wears a suit and tie 5 days a week, so shorts is his preferred manner of dress at all other times!
