Another Double Stroller ?????

My husband and I are trying to decide between an maclaren twin traveller and the Peg perego duette. Other then price, Which stroller would you choose. Is it much harder to drive a front n back twin? The side by sides lok like the kids will be on top of each other when they are a little older. We plan on using it for years to come at disney. Thanks for all your help!

Hello, we have the Maclaren Twin Traveller and absolutely love it! It folds very easily and drives smoothly also. We also have the Peg Triplette which I think is like the Duette. It is a pain, you have to remove the seats from the chassis to fold. It doesn't steer well either. So, I vote for the Maclaren! Have you checked into the SBS Peg?

Wow. A Mac TT and a Peg Duette are about as different as you can get.

Have you seen them both in person? Folded and unfolded them? Collapsing a Duette is a pretty involved process - the seats have to be removed, right? Do you have twins or an older & younger child? Will you be mainly walking outside or shopping with it? Will you take it on public transit?

I've had a double snap-n-go, a Peg Twin Aria, and now I have a Safety First Transit Tandem. So I've gone from a F&B, to a SBS, and back to a small F&B. All have good and bad points.

I think it is mostly a matter of personal taste when deciding between a tandem and a side-by-side. For me, I don't have twins. DS#1 is 3 years older than DS#2 who is/will be about 18.5 months older than DS#3. DS#2 isn't always...nice...about being in a SbS. DS#1, who is rarely in a stroller anyhow and deal with it. But a brand new baby can not, so a SbS isn't even an option for us.

I think you need to try the kids in them. My youngest HATES our MacLaren Twin Traveler.

Unless you plan to always drive to all your theme park destinations, the Duette is going to be a very poor choice. It does not fold unless you completely remove the seats, which means that it cannot be gate-checked when travelling; you would have to pack it in 3 separate boxes to be checked as luggage (seats one box each, frame in a third; this is because putting them all in one box would exceed the maximum size limit for checked luggage.)
It will also pretty much fill the trunk of any car.

If you really want a Peg, but will use it for travel, I'd consider the Aria Twin instead.

We have the Peg Perego Aria twin, and love it. Other than some trouble fitting thru some doorways, its great. Folds up in 2 sec, lots of storage under, has a tray for both DDs. Thats the one we're planning on for our trip.

I would like to thank everyone for their help so far! now to answer some questions. I have a dd1 and am 5.5 pregnant with ds. I have three peg peregos and love them all. I have an aria single stroller that we use around the block but for everything else we use our full sized peg. I want something that will last for years and have the kids be comfy. my DH and I travel to WDW at least three times a year and are out all the time. I am afraid that with a SBS they kids will end up fighting when they are older. Also, I wonder if the seats are more narrow in a SBS? I did not realise that you had to take the whole thing apart to fold it (PP) That brings up some things to think about now too. Where I live there is nowhere to see the Peg perego so I am trying to decide on help from other people and consumer reports. again thanks for all the help so far.

We also have the single and double Peg Perego Aria. We had the larger peg perego single one at first too, don't remember the name, but once we bought the Aria, that was all we used. After DD2, we started shopping for the double stroller, originally looking at Maclaren, but then we saw the Aria double and loved it. It folds exactly the same way, the seat width does seem the same for the single and double. My DDs are 3.5 and 1. Sometimes there are issues, where the younger one will reach over to the older one, and mess with her, etc, but no more so than with other strollers. I really wanted a side by side for Disney, not wanted one to be in the back because I know my older daughter would have wanted to be in the front, then the younger would kick the chair, etc. This has worked out great. We haven't been to Disney yet, but are going this fall, and hopefully will do well with that stroller. Good luck!

We never tried either of the strollers but I know others who love their double Maclaren. We had the Combi Twin Savvy which was awesome for WDW. People would actually stare at me folding it up b/c it folding so easy into an umbrella stand shaped rectangle. Also it weighs less than 15lbs which was a huge bonus for use. When I was with DDs by myself I could hold my youngest DD on my hip while I folded it up and threw it over my shoulder. We were able to use it until my oldest was 5 when I decided she didn't need a stroller anymore.

We have the MacLaren Twin Traveller and use it for our four-year-old DD and our two-year-old DS when we go to Disneyland. They seem to be fine riding it. Yes, every once in a while they'll bug each other, but for the most part my kids do well. I actually had similar problems with them bugging each other when they use to ride our old tandem, LOL! I ended up getting a SBS because it became harder to push our kids around in the tandem, which was about a year ago. Having the SBS is definitely a better choice for me now that they're older. It's much, much easier to push and manuever the stroller, especially with the Maclaren.

I also have a Peg Perego Pliko and if you compare the Pliko seat width with the Mac TT, the Pliko is definitely wider, but I guess there has to be a compromise when you have a double SBS that needs to be narrow enough to get through most public doorways/hallways. My kids are average build and they both still fit in their seats just fine. I think my DD will outgrow the TT height-wise before she reaches the weight limit (55 lbs), though, but until then, we'll use it.

It's been a great stroller for us.
