Another Disney Website Fail

I'm with you, Chartle! It's absolutely not ice cream, and I bet if their lawyers realized that they were using a phrase with a specific definition they would change it.

Well call me stupid cause I haven't figured it out yet, but what the heck is a Dole Whip & the Float if it isn't ice cream? What have I been eating all these years? :confused3

You sure you want to know?

From the company that distributes it, the pineapple version is...

Water*, Sugar, Dextrose, Pineapple Juice Concentrate, Coconut Oil**, Stabilizers (Cellulose, Xanthan Gum, Locust Bean, Karaya Gum, Pectin), Maltodextrin, Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking), Corn Syrup Solids, Citric Acid, Sodium Caseinate (A Milk Derivative), Artificial Flavor, Potassium & Sodium Phosphate, Mono & Diglycerides, Artificial Color (Yellow 5 & 6), Soy Lecithin.

Tasty, eh?

We can't have it. I think it tastes like what pineapple flavored melted plastic must taste like, and we discovered that *corn syrup solids* are also a problem with DS and DH after they both had their nasty (and opposite) reactions to the Dole Whips they were enjoying.

Chartle....I too have avoided dole whips because of not liking fruit stuff mixed with ice cream or any type of soft serve. Hmm...if a dole whip doesn't contain that stuff I might try one.

I remember getting just frozen orange juice at the Sunshine Tree Terrace. Haven't seen them in a few years, but I do see they have the following: Citrus Swirl - frozen orange and vanilla soft-serve. Does anyone know if this pre-mixed or can you ask them for just the frozen orange part. They also have an orange slush...hmm..I might have to try the next time.

My favorite frozen OJ bars have seemed to disappear. For awhile I could get them in at MK and AK, but slowly they were removed. So sad.

I understand the lactose thing. I have an allergy to bananas and melons. I have to ask about everything muffin or pastry related. Things like smoothies I have to be careful about. I'm always asking. At a non-Disney hotel, I spit out a cupcake because the lady told me it was just yellow cake and her co-worker said..."NO they are banana flavored!" ugh... Honestly who makes banana cupcakes with white frosting and colored sprinkles.

My kids always get the vanilla soft serve when we get our Dole Whips. What are they eating if it's not ice cream?!

I still love my dole whips, no matter if they are "ice cream treats" or "soft-serve treats". :thumbsup2

This is the stupidest thread I have ever seen here!!! It is almost disturbing the things people find to complain about these days!

Is now the time to mention that, per HealthDaily News . . .

Lactose Intolerance May Sometimes Be in the Head, Not the Gut.
A new study finds that some who report having it may actually have a psychological disorder.

Oh, no....what have you started!:rotfl2:

Call me crazy, but believe me you do not want to be behind me if I have milk. ;):goodvibes

Ok I get that it isn't ice cream, and it shouldn't be listed as such, but wow-all of this?

play nice please

(and i had a lovely orange whip with my pineapple juice just last week and it was fantastic!)

:rotfl: But at least Disney is putting a Casey's hot dog back on a white bun--regardless of what kinda dog it is. Just the thought of a pineapple flavored white frozen treat made of whatever makes my stomach hurt....but DH loves them and we are not lactose intolerant.

Sanaa and the food they serve is not longer discussed in our home...

Soooo is Walt Disney World an amuzement park, a resort or a destination and we all know Magic Kingdom is NOT WALT DISNEY WORLD. Talk about word play..but I did read all three pages of this thread and I am still confused is ice cream served at Disney?? :rotfl2:

Yes, many restaurants at Disney serve ice cream (it's often Edy's brand ice cream.) The "Dole Whip" is not ice cream...it's a frozen confection made of lots of non-milk/non-cream ingredients. Tasty. But not ice cream.

Love this thread...3 pages. Slow Disney news day...

Disney is not doing anything illegal. There are no labeling laws to be enforced at theme park concessions.

Get over it.

Aww, did you have to go there?

Chartle, do you have teenagers? (I went back and looked at your signature...yep!) It seems like in our society's lingo nowadays, everyone's using the term "fail" for a faux-pas. It's not a phrase that means "Disney is purposely misleading people into thinking a Dole Whip is ice cream." I get the "fail" reference thanks to my teenagers.

Perhaps, Charlte, if you want to spread the good news that Dole Whips are able to be enjoyed by lactose intolerant people, like I think you have said you done on other threads, why not start a thread saying "Dole Whips: Hey, guess what lactose intolerant peeps, they are non-dairy (or whatever they actually are) and awesome! Go try one! They are ok for you! Woo-hoo!"
I really think you are well-meaning.

Now let's all celebrate with a Dole Whip, I'm really wanting one!:lovestruc
