Another Disney Store validation....

I'm from a small town about 45 minutes north of Indy...just off of Highway 31.

Are you in Indiana?:goodvibes

You're pretty close to me in Cicero, IN. :flower3: I'm going to really miss the Castelton store and even the Circle Center one. Guess I'll have to make it a requirement to stop at the one in Hobart when we visit my parents each month.

closing all the stores in KS, MO....

That is not correct. I work at one of the Kansas City area stores and there are 10 or 11 stores in our district (most of KS and western MO), and out of those only 2, maybe 3, are closing.

I think a lot of what is out there is just speculation and we'll just have to wait and see. Even the stores themselves do not know for certain if they are staying open, or exactly what is happening with the changeover.

Looks like my store in NH is going, but I just called and the CM who answered the phone said they aren't closing. Have they been told to say this or is there hope? I haven't been there in a while, so I don't know if they are having a sale.

That's right. There is an 800 number we are supposed to give out if guests have any questions. None of ours want the # though. We are crossing our fingers here too. All but one store in our district is on the "closing" list. I really don't want to drive to Canton (1hr 30 min) or Toledo (2hr 30 min) for shopping.

Good to know!!

Please let Independence,MO be on the list of stayers. We all know Overland Park will stay open (Oak Park Mall is not a Simon), but I don't want to drive there..

I'm also hoping the Independence Center one stays open. I would hate to have to drive over to Oak Park to shop:scared1:

Went over to the Disney Outlet Store about 45 minutes from here on Sunday- just to do a little shopping. Turns out, they're closing this week! They were down to just a couple of racks of stuff- it sucks! We bought a TON of stuff- original final total was nearly $200.00- then he put in the 90% discount and we only paid about $20. That was cool- but the whole thing still sucks.

Disney has never been very forthcoming with information for it's employees. Plus there are always the ones in denial. When my husband worked for the company, they were not allowed to tell anyone that they were being sold to TCP.

Thanks for your responses. Maybe my store will move off of the closing list, but if they don't, hopefully I can get some good deals on the closing sale :)

I'll wait and see what the final list says before getting too bent out of shape. Like others have said....nothing is legally binding yet so we might be getting our knickers in a twist over nothing yet. I've also been surprised at how many people on this board shop at "my" Disney Store in Lafayette, Indiana! It's a small world! Keeping my fingers crossed we get to keep our store!

Where did you go? We were in Pensacola for Spring Break, and we went to Foley's outlet mall on Wedneday (the 9th). The store was closed, and they were putting in a Coach outlet.....

Did you go to Foley? That's the only outlet around there that I know of. :confused3

Mall of GA was on the chopping block according to the CM that I spoke to at the Gwinnett store a couple of weeks ago. They were actually thinking of closing Gwinnett too, but that would be a bad move because I am sorry, I am not going to Discover Mills. That mall is always dead and the prices on most of the merchandise is overprised for what is billed as being more of an Outlet mall.

I have my fingers crossed that Gwinnett Place keeps their TDS!

I hope Mall of GA stays open. That is the closest to my house, and it's a pain dealing with traffic around the Gwinnett Mall area. I would think the Gwinnett Mall store doesn't do as well, because every time I go to it it's pretty dead, and the Mall of GA store is always busy. I agree about the Discover Mills store, it's just the clearance stuff moved from the regular stores and they try to sell it at regular price again.

Since the paperwork that people are referring to is the Chaper 11 documents that Hoop Retail filed, I think the list is pretty accurate.

My DS manager said they filed it this way so they could break all of the leases on the stores they wanted to close a lot easier.

She may be referring to the Disney Character Warehouse in Destin, FL. Check out this link:

OMG...is that true? My son has a dentist appt. on Friday in Norcross, and I was going to go to the DM store afterwards.

I've never been there, and someone posted on here that it was huge....I'll be so disappointed if that's the case (moving clearance stuff to DM to sell at full price again)! UGH.....

How is the store decorated?

I'm not doing something right and my pdf reader isn't working well either - so does that mean we have nothing in Michigan except grandville??? I know that at least one store has closed already in livonia - are we losing even more??? That is sooo sad. I worked at one disney store prior to CP taking over and I must say that service is alot different and I hated the store layout. The cast members changed too and that made a difference also. Am glad that Disney is taking charge but really wish we were keeping some stores in michigan. Must say that working that one christmas saved me heaps on the DVC we bought in 1996!

I'm pretty sure the Independence store is expected to close. The one in Oak Park Mall and the one in Zona Rosa are both expected to stay open. At this point, even the CM's don't know for certain what's going on. :confused3 The list of stores has not been released to us yet, but my managers keep saying that we'll know for sure by May 1st or earlier.

Hmmm...that would make MORE sense, seeing how those character warehouses come and go all the time. Thanks...I had no idea there was one of those in Destin.

My MIL lives about 30 min. from Destin....If I had only known.... :sad1:

No! It's totally TRUE! There's a Disney Store Outlet (not a Disney World / Disneyland outlet) at Discover Mills. I was there this weekend and spent way too much. They opened this January and get there shipments on Monday and Wednesday the CM told me. As if I needed any more encouragement... :cool1:

I got the 3' Cindy for like around $5. I got clothes for my daughter and me! And of course lots of the fun little stuff for our plane trip to DL!
