I am debating using the DDP for the first time. I have read that if you don't add it for the entire stay you need to break up the reservation. Is that also true for arrival and departure days? We usually tend to arrive later and depart earlier so feel like it would be a waste for those days.
thanks

The DDP technically goes by the number of nights, not days, so you are not paying specifically for your arrival or departure "days." You can use a couple of two credit meals, or have a TS breakfast and a TS dinner a couple of mornings to use up the credits.

Personally, I think I'd do that rather than try to break up a reservation just for arrival and departure days, unless it is for a relatively short stay overall.

I am doing it, but I am "brave" (and cheap)and do not mind a little extra front desk time.
