Another Defunct Angie’s List

People Express more or less had a terminal to themselves at Newark, but it was far from new. They used the original EWR terminal that was probably built in the 1940s and abandoned in the early 70s.

It was cramped and horribly out of date. Most gates didn’t have jet bridges, you had to go outside to board. It had few restaurants and other services.

One thing I did like was when returning to EWR, they often opened the back stairs in the tail of a 727 for deboarding.

Supposedly for the Wall Street area of Manhattan, EWR is the area’s most convenient airport.

I know JFK gets a lot of grief, but I liked it for good access to the NYC Subway.

Anyone remember Ozark Air? It was small propeller planes that flew routes around Missouri. I remember some really short flights and the Flight Attendants (still Stewardesses then) would bring out chiclet gum on a platter. Hilarious!
Not Ozark, but I’ve flown on several other small regional airlines on “puddle jumper” prop planes. One time the meal/snack was a box of Dunkin Donuts. FA handed it to the person in the first seat, and told them to “take one and pass it around”. Another time they asked everyone to step on a scale while boarding, so they could balance the weight and assign seats accordingly.

Us Airways
Continental
British Caledonian ( my first flight , JFK to Preswick, Scotland)

Air Jamaica. First jet I flew at 22 going, of course, to Jamaica.
Marie and I did Air Jamaica, back in probably 1972 I recall the flight attendants (stewardesses back then), hurriedly doing a fashion show while the plane was descending into either Jamaica or O'Hare. They changed in the bathroom in the rear of the plane, walked quite quickly to the front, turned around and went to the back to change again. I think there were maybe 3 flight attendants on the plane, 2 fashion changes, total of 6 'showings'. Can you imagine anything like that today? :sad2:
