Thank you for all your help in booking my first cruise on the Disney Wonder out of Galveston on November 20! At the time that I booked, I got the military special. My only choices for a family of 4 (2A, 2 kids -ages 8 and 10) were a standard inside stateroom at $3400 or a verandah at $5000. I choose the inside stateroom. I am a bit worried because it isn't deluxe so no split bath. It is room 6545.

Today Disney released more military rates for that sailing. I can now get an oceanview room for $4000. I am thinking seriously about switching to get a little extra space and I know the kids would love the window. All the oceanview cabins I can book are on deck 2 either very forward or very aft.

What do you guys think of this location? I definitely like deck 6 better and am a little worried about being so low on the ship and also so far forward or aft. Any experience with this location? Do you prefer further forward or aft if you had to choose?

Thanks again for all your help!

I was on deck 2 of the magic in 2013 and LOVED the location!!!! I cannot remember forward, aft, midship, but I THINK it was near restaurant side. love me some deck 2!

I'm with you on liking Deck 6 better. I haven't cruised on anything lower than that before, and had an opportunity to move from an inside to an oceanview on our upcoming Wonder cruise. Like you, though, the availability was on the 2nd deck and I wasn't keen on the idea. I stuck with the 6th floor inside.
While the split bath is nice, our family of three doesn't have a lot of trouble making the single bath work fine with regards to all of us getting in and getting out.
Whatever you decide - enjoy your cruise!

I'd change to a deck 2 ocean view in a heartbeat. Deck 2 is awesome (stayed there on Magic and Wonder) and the split bathroom is a blessing! We have deck 2 (forward) for our Alaska sailing next summer as well. :)

I'd switch too. That split bath is a godsend, especially with a family of 4! Plus some natural light will be nice too. It's nice to look out to see if it's sunny or overcast or rainy. My TA swears by the ocean view rooms on deck 2...go for it!

I have stayed on Deck 2 but mid ship on the Dream. And i liked it because you don't feel as much movement from the ship I am not motion sickness prone but when I have stayed on deck 8 forward I felt pretty much every wave and did not like that.
Not having a split bath on one sailing was difficult for my family of three. I wouldn't sail with out a split bath again.
The ocean view is very worth it as well. My DS loved it. It made the room feel more open and the natural light was a plus.
This is a hard decision but i think that your inside cabin is in an ideal location and with your kids being older you all may not even spend much time in the cabin anyway. Hope this helps.

We loved deck 2 on the Wonder. You'll be closer to the ocean & have an amazing view of the water. I remember also having some great views while at ports of call.

Unless you know for sure that someone in your party is very prone to sea sickness, it would be a no brainer. Switch. The window will be great for the kids, and as a parent, I'd pay that much for the split bath.

I would change for sure, not only for the ocean view but also for the extra bathroom.
