My family of four (2 adults and 2 children) will be going to Disney next month and I am still trying to figure out how to make the most of my DDP. We have reservations at Flying Fish and California Grill for dinner. We also have a breakfast TS meal at Cape May and Crystal palace. Do you think to get the most of the ddp I should just pay out of pocket for the buffet breakfast and save the TS for something a bit more expensive?

it really depends on what you want to get out of the ddp. if you are going to ts breakfast and then ts dinners then yes you should pay the buffet out of pocket since they will be cheaper then most meals. it will depend on where you end up going as well. also look at the rest of your adrs as well. if you are going to other buffets for dinner then see what would cost you the most and make your decision on that.

Are you on the regular DDP (1 TS, 1 CS, 1 Snack per day) or DxDP (3 TS, 2 Snack per day). If you are looking to get the most out of it, and are on the regular DDP, those signatures will eliminate any chance of gaining any $$$ value off of the DDP (they cost 2 TS credits). Not to mention if you are the types who would want an appitizer as well as either cocktails or wine for the adults. If you are cocktail/wine and/or appitizer people, expect to pay another $30+ OOP (more if the adults each have their own appitizers or more than one drink).

If you are on the DxDP, a signature for every dinner is the only way you can get good value and not lose a ton of park time when using the DxDP.

2 credit restaurants are not the best value for credit use on the basic DDP - using all your TS credits for 1 credit restaurants apparently works out to a better value, because 2 credit restaurants obviously are double the cost of one-credit restaurants. If you are sold on the 2 credit restaurants, you may want to pay OOP for the breakfasts, or pay OOP for one of the 2 credit dinners and use those credits for the breakfasts. You may want to add up the possible expenses to see which would be the better value for you.

If you're on deluxe, you get three times as many credits that can be used for TS, so the two credit restaurants work out to a better value.

How many nights are you staying, and on which plan? That will determine how many credits you will have to spend on TS restaurants.

On previous trips we have done deluxe dining, if we are doing a 2TS dinner and have TS ressies for both breakfast and lunch that day, then we OOP the breakfast and use a credit for lunch.

If we are just doing breakfast and a 2TS dinner then we use DxDP for all. One thing I have done in the past that works really well is to schedule a late breakfast 10:20-10:30 and use DxDP then use a snack credit around 3-4 and then use 2DxDP for dinner. With DxDP you get the refillable mug, so we take a few breakfast bars, granola bars etc, to eat while we are getting ready in the morning just to get us to the late breakfast/brunch. This also gives us time when the park first opens to ride a few rides without lines prior to eating breakfast.

I am definitely a planner so I actually create an excel spreadsheet with all the days we are going to be there and all of our ADR's. I then use that to determine which breakfast meals could be OOP.

Good luck.
