The point is being made that with all of the unconstitutional ideas that are given out after a major event, those events still happen. Let's look at something else, like maybe enforcing the laws that are already on the books that are often ignored, especially in those same areas that have the most onerous firearm restrictions. But you know there are lots of shootings in Chicago so why bother with gun legislation./s
Every single mass murder thread this is said. And it’s so freaking ridiculous.
It's been almost 8 years (started in 2015) since a concealed carry permit stopped being required in my state although you have to be 21. If you're between 18 and 21 you need a license (that started in 2018 prior to this no one under 21 could conceal carry). I don't know how long open carry without a permit has been but it sure seems to have been a long time (age 18 and up though).Sadly, states are going in the opposite direction. No permits needed at all to own and carry, allowing minors to openly carry guns with no adult supervision, as if it is not wild west enough now.

The only way you are going to curb gun ownership and use in this country is to amend the Constitution, all it takes is 290 votes in the House, 67 votes in the Senate and then majority vote in 38 state legislatures.
If bringing down actual crime is your goal, let's start with not letting multiple time felons have stayed sentences on crimes up to and including killing people.
Thoughts and prayers aren't the only thing we have left. I still have a firearm to legally defend myself against someone who wants to use a firearm in an illegal act against me. As does millions of others to protect themselves from the hundreds you talk about.Of all the countless gun violence threads there have been on the CB over the years, this has got to be the most gobsmacking post I've ever read. When any outcome of your gun-control debates can only ever hope to maybe stem the tide of the massacre of precious children, innocent mall shoppers and public revelers, but they're all still at risk of being mowed down by "regular" gun violence at any time, I'd say all hope is lost. It's incomprehensible to the rest of us, world-wide.Ridicule thoughts-and-prayers if you will; it seems to be about all you have left.
We need to do better. Also funding has been drastically cut over the last decade for other programs that worked to help some of these at-risk youth.Safe storage and mandatory theft reporting would be pretty hard to enforce. Most criminals aren’t too compliant with most laws or ordinances. Sadly to say this was just a typical weekend in many of our inner cities. The past three weekends in Chicago, there were 20, 30 and 11 people shot. There were over 100 shot in one weekend there last summer.
Instead of more hot air talking about additional legislation, how about talking about the soft on crime prosecutors who don’t enforce the laws already on the books now? How about voting for district attorneys who don’t defund the police and don’t let violent felons back on the streets time after time? Most of these offenders have dozens of felony arrests, yet they are still left back on the streets to hurt innocent people again and again.
Its really not the garden spot you might think it is.I just flew into Los Angeles last night from a wonderful week in snowy, beautiful Ottawa, Canada. I checked my Twitter news each day I was away. There was either a mass or major shooting every day last week somewhere in this country. Most don;t even make the news anymore. My Canadian colleagues said they are in constant disbelief about our gun violence. Seeking a sponsor in Canada for retirement!
We have a "homicide tracker". The trends have stayed the same for years. Same spots generally speaking. While I agree violent crime is a huge problem, my point was that the area this happened is a known dangerous area…Mardi Gras or not. As disturbing as it is, I just read that Nola has a “murder map”. The red dot shows just how dangerous that area is.

"There was never a danger other than the obvious," he said.
Yeah, let's arm the teachers and staff as in school military. Great idea.
Thanks for posting this. I wonder if this is available for other major cities. I keep up with Baton Rouge news when I can, and their rates are as bad as always, or worse. Nashville getting worse too. While I agree violent crime is a huge problem, my point was that the area this happened is a known dangerous area…Mardi Gras or not. Well, cops and FBI agents have done that. Should we disarm all of them?Yeah, let's arm the teachers and staff as in school military. Great idea.

I don't see any issue with someone pointing out knowledge and reality vs. just spouting the repeating narrative of an agenda.
