Hi. Hopefully this is ok to ask and the correct place. I am wondering if there are rumors about Disney world closing again? My family keeps telling us to cancel our trip (oct 31-nov7) because Florida is so bad and Disney will close again. I’m not finding any articles about Disney closing or the cdc pushing them to do so. I can’t see Disney doing that again with the loss of money, loss of jobs, etc. I’m wondering if the extent of it would be to make everyone show a negative test 48 hours before their vacation (although people can still get infected by leaving the resort).
My HOPE is that it will settle down by then because just like all viruses, they run through a community infecting everyone and then move on to the next. I’ve read reassuring info that it has hit its climax and is starting to get better in Florida. What is everyone’s thought?

Agree with the posters here. It is highly unlikely they'll consider closing up again. If they didn't close with the number of Florida cases in August, they're not going to close as the cases seem to have peaked and are working their way back down. Also agree that since we know more about how it's spread, people have options to protect themselves and protect others. It doesn't have to be another situation where closing is the safest option.

Agree, they're not going to close especially with the 50th Anniversary coming up.

In the event that they did close for some reason - people who did not cancel in 2020 were taken care of by Disney so I wouldn't worry about that.

If you are worried about contracting the virus while you are there - just take all of the precautions you can. Won't get into details here since it is now against the rules.

I have not heard or read any rumors about Disney World closing again. Like you, I’m not finding any articles about Disney closing or the CDC pushing them to do so.

They will not close at the end of Oct. The modelling clearly shows that cases will be down from the peak a few days ago at that point. If they were going to close it would have been now.

So now can we talk discounts? Do we foresee any discounts happening since crowd levels have gone down? I understand with the 50th coming and all the resorts were booked solid, there was no chance of discounts because there wasn’t a demand. Now with people skeptical of coming and crowd levels down, what does everyone think?

They are coming upon their busiest season. I booked our Nov and Dec trip back in May.
Back then pickings were very slim. I can only imagine how it is now. I don't see any discounts
the rest of the year. 2022 maybe.

Friends and relatives who I know go every Sept have postponed until Oct.

honestly it’s Florida I think at most maybe they bring back outdoor masking, delay the reopenings of the still shuddered hotels/shows/restaurants, make wine & dine 100% virtual or a combination of these things I doubt we will have a full WDW closure (now DCL having to suspend sailings from Florida due to the Governors stance on vaccine passports is another story)

We have went to Disney a few times during the pandemic. One thing I have learned is that everyone has an opinion... especially family.
We were told by a few family members that we should cancel, we were stupid for going and on and on. Do what's best for you !!

I now live in Florida, the governor has stated many times nothing's shutting down its business as usual, and we wont talk about his feeling on mask save that for reddit.

We returned from Disney August 27th. Other than signs concerning the risks of covid 19 and the mandatory wearing of masks indoors, things are pretty much "the new normal". We spent 10 nights, buses were full - including people standing. Crowds with no spacing in lines indoors (masks are mandatory). We also went August, 2020. Never once have we felt unsafe. Just know, it is normal.

As far as discounts, I believe it is very unlikely. The 50th anniversary celebration will take place. Lots of attractions, are getting already. Gold statutes and oh, the beautiful castle. (We are planning for August, 2022)
