Another child vanishes, 9 year old girl in Missouri

As the mom of a 9 year old girl, this is positively terrifying. Please say a prayer that we find this one alive!

Omgosh! Not again, so soon!! This is scary! I'll be praying they find her.:guilty:

What is going on? For the life of me I do not understand why all of this is happening to these children. I pray that they find her soon and that she is safe.

My heart sinks when I hear things like this...:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

And it makes me have very angry approriate thoughts about what I think should be done to these monsters. It would probably get me points if I posted it here.

God be with her and her family.

I think what's happening is there are too many unregistered AND registered sex offenders out there! They need to be locked up and throw away the key!
Sick sick sick... society is pretty darn corrupt.

I'm probably the only one thinking this, but as a Mom, I'm so angry at the parents that allow these really young kids to be walking around alone.:confused3 what is the matter with these people?? The little girl in Fl was 7, and she was walking one mile home from school, one mile!! I don't get it, not in today's world.

My daughter gets on the bus only one house down but I watch her from my front porch until the bus arrives and am there watching for her as she gets off the bus. I don't even let my kids play outside without me being out there with them. Sometimes I feel as if I am being too over protective until I read stories such as these.

Same here! I agree with both of you. I have a 10 year old and while I do let her play in the yard, with me checking on her every few minutes, I would never let her walk further than our mailbox, without supervision!

Totally agree. MUCH too young.
My DD's are 22 and 25 and they still have to call me when they get where they are going (if it's a distance) and if they are going to be unreasonably late. Sorry, that's just this 'Mum's' rules!

Heck, my kid is almost FOURTEEN and I wouldn't let her wait by herself! Oh God please let this little girl be found safe and sound. :guilty:

You are not the only one who think this, because I was just telling my sister the very same thing. There is no way that I would let my kids walk like that, anywhere. I would not be able to live with myself if something happened to one of my children just because I didn't feel like driving or walking her to her friends house. You just can't do that anymore no matter where you live, and if you do, you are running a risk of it happening to your child.

I honestly believe that they need to lock those people up and throw away the key. There is no way to help them. I also believe that someone needs to really crack down on people who download child porn and such. They need to hunt them down and lock them up forever.

This case is a little too close to home -- about 40 miles from us and we have a daughter the same age. I don't let our children play in the yard unless DH or I are outside -- call me overprotective. I read the little girl was only 1/4 mile from home. That's scary.

This is exactly why I took issue with the school board this year telling me that my 11 year old, weighing 65 pounds, should walk the 2 miles to school. We are rural, but there is a state highway that she would have to walk along, there are some crummy apartments where there are a couple register sex offenders about a mile down the path, not to mention the risk from the traffic at 50mph! No thank you, I will take my girls to the bus stops and/or school and watch them, we do let them play in our yard and with our next door neighbor's girls without us being outside with them, but that's as far away as I am comfortable with!

No you are not alone. I fully agree.
Get ready to be called a nut job for thinking that way htough... the Dis loves to hate parents who say that outloud. :sad2:

My kids are 5 and 8 they are not allowed to get on or off the bus without me standing there with them. Could something bad still happen? Sure...but it will be over my dead cold body.

I don't think anyone would be called crazy for thinking this, as far as I'm concerned, these parents dropped the ball and let that little girl down in Fl. They'll never forgive themselves for it, I'm sure. I would love to know what was more important than getting that girl home safely from school, and please don't tell me it was because they were working. Because if she was a toddler, they would arrange a babysitter, right? Well why is it different if she is age 7?? The negligence burns me up.

Your right - I'm sure I hear mutterings of helicopter parent right now. I guess sign me up on that list.

I keep this child and parents in my prayers. It is terrible what is happening to the most vunerable. We need to change some things somewhere.

My mom's the same way, and I'm 36. :goodvibes
