I already have one cat I adopted almost 4yrs ago. I would like to get him a playmate to keep him from getting bored. I also have a dog, but he doesn't play with the cat much due to he gets severe hives when ever he gets excited (another story
). The question is Blackie tends to be play agressive, biting hard. I am worried if I get another cat he could harm the new cat, so not sure if I do adopt, what kind of personality should the new cat have, similar to my current cat, who is not afraid of anything, even goes up to a strange dog, or should I look for a more passive cat. I want one that can handle Blackies rough housing.
Small history on Blackie: I adopted at a no kill cat shelter, where alot of the cats are allowed to roam free, outside the cages. As soon as I walked in, this black cat greeted me at the door, so I picked him up, walked around with him, put him down, to look at others, but he keep being the center of attention, so I caved and well brought him home. The first couple days he spent mostly on the kitchen table except at bedtime, or when I was downstairs watching tv, mainly because of the dog, but by the third day, he was use to the dog, the dog realized this..new thing.. had sharp claws and left him alone..except when the cat smacked him on his butt..Blackie loves to do that, even after 4yrs. But this cat is now 20lbs, and needs get some major excercise and just playing with a few toys just does not cut it, he needs some one to chase and wrestle with.
I just need opinions on what type of personality I should look for.
